It is said that it is bad to be greedy when going to the presence of a master. One needs to have a strong desire for Dharma and instructions. If one does so, one will gain experience by understanding their meaning and generate faith. If one does not understand in this way, intimidating them will not help. The venerable Geshe Chapa said, "If I were to annotate all the scriptures, there would be nothing I would not know." However, when a student showed him a single verse of vajra words and asked him to make an annotation on it, he said, "There is one thing here that I do not understand." Similarly, some U-se Geshes without experience, when surrounded by many followers and thinking that Dharma will come, what comes is a vomit of dog feces. What comes is, "One should do human Dharma like this," "One should do this for profit and fame," and saying, "This is very profound," they show the instructions of channels, winds, and bindus, and show endless methods of combining desire. Also, secondly, wanting to meditate on a pure instruction, at that time they will definitely say that one needs to listen, and then they will instill a wrong lineage. However, in that case, if the student is of the highest intelligence, he will not listen to him. The intermediate one will do it, but will say, "Knowledge is for oneself," and then rise from the seat and leave. If one is inferior, one will sit in his presence and do whatever he says. Thus, a situation arises where there is no need for it. Therefore, from now on, it is very important to focus solely on practicing the Dharma. Furthermore, Jigten Sumgön Rinpoche said that previously, Lord Phagmo Drupa said, "The individual who is the basis for realizing the mind will not take rebirth." Later, he said that they do take rebirth. That is because at the time of realizing the mind, that which is called "mind" does not exist, and its particular quality, which is taking rebirth, does not occur. This is spoken from the perspective of realization. Then, if some individuals who have realized the mind now have greater afflictions and coarser thoughts, how is that? That is because the root of the mind has been severed, so it cannot harm. For example, if a tree is cut from its root, even if the leaves turn green, it has no ability to grow. Also, if a tea stalk is burned and the ears of grain are thrown into the ocean, sprouts will grow depending on the moss.
