One must follow someone, and that must be following the footsteps of our Lord of the World, the father and son. Although called father and son, they are inseparably one. (Lama Nyakse has not seen Drigungpa, it is said that the venerable Phagmo Drupa was residing.) Therefore, the two, father and son, are one, and their liberation is distinguished by discipline and samadhi, so one must follow them. The precepts that the Tathagata has forbidden, and the precepts that are not defiled by the sins of nature, are pure discipline. Samadhi arises in the mind that is free from regret. If the discipline is impure and the mind is stained with transgressions, even if one remains in samadhi, the mind will be distracted by regret, and samadhi will not arise. Samadhi is the fruit of discipline. Therefore, the field of cultivation for all lifetimes is precious discipline. Here, if we think that we are great Mahayana secret mantra practitioners and do not need to keep discipline, if there is no discipline, then the accomplishments of mantra will not arise. If mantra is accomplished by violating discipline, the Buddhas have never said so. Entering the city of Nirvana is not a place or direction. As it is said, therefore, one must be diligent in precious discipline. If we claim to be secret mantra practitioners, but eat meat and drink alcohol, what is the benefit? This will be condemned by the Buddhas of the three times. Here, if one thinks that there is permission in secret mantra, there are two cases, permission and non-permission. If the three letters ཧ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ह, Romanized Sanskrit: ha, Literal Chinese meaning: Ha), ཧོ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हो, Romanized Sanskrit: ho, Literal Chinese meaning: Hou), ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ह्रीः, Romanized Sanskrit: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: She) transform the color, taste, and power of alcohol into a pure appearance and it appears as nectar, then it is permitted, like milk. If one cannot do that, it is not permitted. If one is separated from the three "ཧ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ह, Romanized Sanskrit: ha, Literal Chinese meaning: Ha)" letters, and one who holds vows drinks it, there is no doubt that it will turn into poison. Nectar is poison, and poison is nectar. When a mantra practitioner is transformed by alcohol, he becomes greedy for desires and craves sexual intercourse. He laughs and sings in the same way. He is enthusiastic about fighting and becomes extremely confused. He curses and becomes degenerate, crying and shouting, and will be born in hell. The yoginis will be angry, and disease, sorrow, and fear will come upon him. Being tormented by fear, the sinner will be tormented in hell. As it is said, the tsok should be given in that way.

To receive blessings, one needs a genuine or near-genuine Bhagavan Vajradhara. Isn't it considering these that the secret realm of the Buddhas was taught? Apart from that, those who indulge in meat and alcohol are merely using the guise of the Great Vehicle tantras as a pretext for their own indulgence. It is true that the Kadampa tradition flourished through this. Like that, without even knowing how to follow the rituals beyond not blessing the tsok, they use the name of mantra out of greed for eating and drinking, thereby destroying the entire teaching of Shakyamuni; therefore, one should not do that. The teachings of the Lord of the World, father and son, are distinguished by discipline. Moreover, it is said that when Lord Phagmo Drupa requested empowerment at Sakya, he dissolved brown sugar in water and drank it; this was not for fame or gain. Therefore, practitioners should follow the teachings of the Teacher and diligently focus on discipline, and strive to cultivate the power of samadhi of the two types of bodhicitta, which are free from the three poisons. That is, by equally abiding in the two types of bodhicitta, when the power of that samadhi is attained, the body is blessed by the samadhi mind of pure intention. Such a pure body, whoever sees or hears it, is able to generate samadhi in their mind; the body of the Lord of the World becomes like that. As it is said, "You, merely by seeing and remembering, cut off all the painful darts of suffering." The body blesses appearances, subduing the world including the gods, and offering whatever is desired at will; this is the power of pure intention. In short, if summarized, one should cultivate the pure mind, actions, and results of actions that are free from the three poisons, and abandon the impure mind, actions, and results of actions that possess the three poisons. Between these two, there is nothing that does not include all that should be abandoned and all that are antidotes. As it is said, "With attachment, hatred, and ignorance, the actions produced by them are unwholesome. Without attachment, hatred, and ignorance, the actions produced by them are wholesome."
