These are the fields of merit for practicing the Dharma. They are also the Sangha fields of merit for practicing the Dharma. The reason for this is stated in the Sutra of the King of Deathless Drum Sound: "The Buddha's qualities are inconceivable. The sacred Dharma is also inconceivable. The noble Sangha is inconceivable. If one has faith in the inconceivable, the ripening result is also inconceivable." In this regard, the manner in which the Buddha Jewel is inconceivable is as follows: The abandonment of the perfectly complete Buddha, the Bhagavan, is inconceivable. Having abandoned the afflictive obscurations of attachment and the obscurations of knowledge, there is not even a hair's breadth that has not been abandoned, so the abandonment is inconceivable. Just as the abandonment is inconceivable, the accumulation of merit in that direction is also inconceivable, arising equally with that field. The wisdom attained by the Tathagata is inconceivable. The wisdom vision that is unattached and unobstructed to past time enters, knowing immeasurable past eons as if they were yesterday. The wisdom vision that is unattached and unobstructed to future time enters, enabling predictions of the future. The wisdom vision that is unattached and unobstructed to present time enters, so that there is not even a hair's breadth of what is not known in the present time. Furthermore, the thirty-two qualities of abandonment of the Tathagata, the thirty-two qualities of ripening, and the sixty-four qualities, etc., are inconceivable. Accumulating merit in the direction of the Tathagata is inconceivable. Furthermore, the Tathagata possesses uncaused, supreme loving-kindness for all sentient beings. The meaning of uncaused is that other sentient beings help each other in return for favors, but the Tathagata does not rely on such causes and treats all sentient beings equally. Therefore, the perfectly complete Buddha is inconceivable. Similarly, the Dharma spoken by the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is inconceivable. If one asks what that Dharma is, it is dependent origination. Dependent origination is also divided into dependent origination that is free from the eight extremes of elaboration and the dependent origination of cause and effect. The dependent origination that is free from the eight extremes is

It is said in the Koushika Sutra that this is related. The venerable teacher Āryadeva quoted in the great treatise, saying, "By what does dependent origination occur?" etc. Being free from the eight extremes is the dependent origination of cause and effect. Arising from the twelve links of dependent origination, with ignorance as the condition for action, up to old age and death, this is the dependent origination of cause and effect in samsara. With the cessation of ignorance, up to the cessation of old age and death, this is the cause and effect of nirvana. These twelve links of dependent origination are also condensed into three categories. The venerable teacher Āryadeva said: "The twelve distinct limbs, those dependent originations taught by the Buddha, are all included in the three: afflictions, actions, and suffering. The first, eighth, and ninth are afflictions, the second and tenth are actions, and the remaining seven are suffering." If it is said thus, then the first is ignorance, the eighth is craving, and the ninth is grasping; these three are the section of afflictions. The second is action, and the tenth is existence; these two are the section of actions. Name and form, the six sense bases, and so on, the remaining seven are said to be the section of suffering. Among these, what is shown as one aspect of dependent origination is impermanence. This mind that considers impermanence destroys all the views of permanence, such as the eternal, singular, and independent self of external tirthikas. This mind that considers impermanence destroys all views of nihilism. What is shown as two aspects are cause and effect. What is shown as three aspects are the three: afflictions, actions, and the ripening of the fruits of actions. What is shown as twelve aspects is from ignorance to old age and death. Thus, the Bhagavan also said: "What is shown as one aspect of dependent origination is impermanence. What is shown as two aspects are cause and effect. What is shown as three aspects are mind, actions, and the ripening of the fruits of actions. What is shown as twelve aspects is from ignorance to old age and death." Therefore, all the teachings of the Buddha are dependent origination. Thus, in the Shalu Ljangpa Sutra, it is said: "Apart from dependent origination, there is no other dharma." The venerable teacher Āryadeva also said: "This dependent origination is the treasury of the Victorious One's speech."
