One's own mind. The mind from the very beginning is unborn emptiness. What is the understanding of all dharmas? All dharmas encompassed by samsara and nirvana, there is not even a tip of a hair outside. It is one's own mind. That mind is unborn emptiness, because all the elaborations of birth make that mind empty. What is that? Do not think that the eighteen emptinesses and so on are outside or on another side. This is one's own mind, and this mind from the very beginning is unborn emptiness, free from all extremes of elaboration. The reason for dividing it into two aspects, negative and positive, is that one has not realized that all dharmas are one's own mind, unborn emptiness from the very beginning. Due to the power of karma, good and non-good suddenly arise. These two are divided into negative and positive. Therefore, to abandon non-good and cultivate good, one should practice the precious discipline as prescribed by the teacher. Furthermore, the sacred Vinaya is the antidote to abandoning the two extremes. Through the twelve qualities of training, abandoning the extreme of desire and poverty, and the two extremes of fatigue and weariness, through the Middle Way that is free from all extremes, realizing that all dharmas from the very beginning are unborn emptiness, its nature or state, the way of abiding. Then, just as one generates Bodhicitta, obtaining the three enlightenments, that is the fruit of discipline. The three enlightenments also depend on the precious discipline. That discipline is also practiced because one desires the unsurpassed enlightenment, thereby realizing the mind that is free from all extremes, that is the Dharmakaya. Practicing these two trainings of negation and affirmation like entering the Bodhicitta, thereby obtaining the Sambhogakaya. Practicing like the aspiration Bodhicitta, thereby obtaining the Nirmanakaya. The three Kayas are also without distinction, being the same essence of the Dharmakaya. The pure lands of the two Rupakayas, the retinue, the length of life, and the abiding of the teachings, etc., are also like bubbles arising in water. Furthermore, the two Bodhicittas, through the wheel of inexhaustible adornment of body, speech, and mind without distinction, the three doors of body, speech, and mind like illusions, the interdependence of the three causes and effects like the sky, may all sentient beings equal to the sky have happiness, be free from suffering, supreme

Therefore, to keep it in mind in this way is Dharma. Furthermore, the precious Lama said: The ocean of suffering in samsara has no bottom or end. Suffering is inconceivable. If you wonder what the cause of this samsara is, it arises from the decline of rituals and the violation of vows. So, if which ritual declines? That is, all phenomena included in samsara and nirvana are emptiness, unborn from the beginning. Because this is not realized, clinging to "I" and "mine," one revolves in samsara. That is, first clinging to "I" and "mine," and then, relying on that, clinging to others, one engages in various faults, thus creating samsara. It is also said that if there is a self, and so on. Therefore, this ocean of suffering in samsara arises from that cause. To abandon this, one abandons it through the three vows or the three trainings. What is to be abandoned by the three vows is the clinging to "I" and "mine." These are the three vows of individual liberation, the Bodhisattva vow, and the Secret Mantra vow. Among these, the vow of individual liberation has seven types. Among these, there are two types of what is to be abandoned: general and specific. The general is the clinging to "I" or the clinging to "mine," which is also abandoned by the vow of individual liberation. When the root clinging to "I" is abandoned, one does not engage in faults. The specific is the five classes of downfalls. Abandoning the five classes of downfalls is also taught as a method for abandoning the clinging to "I." The purpose of keeping the vow of individual liberation is to abandon the clinging to "I." If the clinging to "I" is not abandoned, what is the purpose of keeping vows? The essence of the Bodhisattva vow is the engaging mind vow. Having generated this, virtue continuously increases. If this is not generated, even if the clinging to "I" is abandoned, it is difficult to attain unsurpassed enlightenment, because it is not possible. If the clinging to "I" is not abandoned, the Bodhicitta with characteristics will not arise, because the arising of Bodhicitta arises from the mind of equality between self and others. If the clinging to "I" is not abandoned, the mind of equality between self and others will not arise. The essence of the engaging mind vow also abandons the clinging to "I." If Bodhicitta is not generated, one cannot completely abandon the clinging to "I." To protect the Bodhisattva vow without it declining is to offer one's body, resources, and all the virtue of the three times.
