Because they exist on the holder, the selflessness of phenomena of the two is established. Third, explaining the valid cognition for measuring samsara and nirvana, first is the valid cognition for measuring nirvana. As it says in the sutra: 'Having recited on mind-only, having recited on the absence of appearance, the yogi abiding in the absence of appearance, he sees the Great Vehicle.' The commentary says: 1-1805 The nature of the transcendental direct perception wisdom pāramitā of the buddhas and bodhisattvas is to be shown. Wisdom is, for all dharmas, the ultimate meaning of all dharmas is emptiness, arising from the cultivation of śamatha and vipaśyanā, it is the direct perception of the meaning of all dharmas, or the meaning of the noble wisdom. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'From then on, one will realize the nature of the two dharmadhātus, non-dual direct perception.' Because it is free from conceptualization and there is no delusion at any time, there is no perception of the unreal as real. Explaining the non-erroneousness is: the impure other-powered consciousness imputes on the aggregates, etc., that other-powered object is not manifested by the true wisdom, because Nāgārjuna said that it is separated from the appearance of the great elements, etc. As it says in the Twenty Verses on the Great Vehicle: 'When the darkness of ignorance awakens, the appearance of samsara is not seen.' 1-1806 Therefore, for it, the appearance is the unperverted and unchanging established reality. The meaning shown above is: the impure other-powered dualistic appearance of grasping and apprehended, born from the habit of delusion, is not there for it, because it is the true wisdom, the appearance of the ultimate truth is separated from one and many, etc., measured by reason, it is not appropriate to have the appearance of the conventional truth. Therefore, experiencing the non-dual and non-appearing self-awareness wisdom in meditative equipoise, and then establishing the two with the correct view in post-meditation. It is unreasonable to have no self-awareness in meditative equipoise, because the subsequent consciousness would become causeless, and if it arises from the past, then it would become substantial. Or, having directly realized the unperverted established reality with the self-awareness direct perception of experiencing wisdom, then indirectly realizing the unchanging established reality of the emptiness of the two. Post-meditation is: having attachment and fear, all the world realms of sentient beings are like illusions.

As it is said. Falsity is the reality of the conventional, so the wisdom that holds it does not become delusion, because it does not appear as true to ordinary people, nor is it attached to truth. Here, in the commentary, it says: 'Nāgārjuna, because he knew the four elements, speculated wrongly, and said that knowledge exists but things do not exist, therefore those Madhyamaka who claim that things and knowledge are both true and false are not followers of Nāgārjuna's school.' The seven verses of worldly measure show that the five appearing things are established by direct perception. In particular, the Vaibhāṣika and Sarvāstivāda do not appear, because they say that there is no appearance in knowledge either. This statement itself contradicts appearance, so it is negated, because cognition contradicts non-cognition. As it is said.' This is from the commentary. Furthermore, appearance is unreasonable, because appearance is knowledge, and knowledge is self-awareness, because if it is known by others, it will lead to infinity, so it cannot be self-aware. It is also unreasonable to say that there is no self-awareness. In the Five Stages (Rim Nga), it says: 'The nature of non-duality, non-discrimination, non-thought, and eternal bliss is what the yogi should meditate on.' In the Praise to the Three Bodies (Ku-sum La Tö-pa), it says: 'To the Dharmakāya (chos sku) of the Buddhas, each with their own self-awareness, which is unparalleled, I prostrate.' Because self-awareness is explained in both the path and the result. Moreover, because it is not deceptive, it will become that, and it is also measurable and explainable, just like object cognition, it is related to the simultaneous arising of things, just like Vijñānavāda, it is related to the single self. Therefore, the ability of the measurer (cognition) to obtain the object as a measure is the meaning of non-deception. Since this treatise negates object cognition and establishes Vijñaptimātratā, it is related to the characteristic of the measure and its own nature. Therefore, what appears as white, etc., is self-aware direct perception, because it is able to self-aware, and the appearance is the nature of knowledge. Why does blue, etc., which exists in knowledge, not appear externally? Because appearance has already been established. In this way, after establishing that all measures are self-aware, the negation of object cognition is because it is not a direct perception of external objects, because it has no connection with external objects. If it is said that it is related to the simultaneous arising of things, then the senses, etc., will also become measures. Therefore, it is a delusion of the form of an object arising from the power of the habit of knowledge (bag chags), just like a mirage is mistaken for water. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
