Therefore, if one similarly indulges in desires, one will not abandon the hope for desires.' Thus it is said. To clearly illustrate this, 'feeding on the earth' is a metaphor for craving evil. The word 'woman,' because (sexual activity) is similar and the color is the same, is to negate craving for the supreme. 'For whom,' refers to the fact that supreme things do not exist and are the same as dogs and other animals, thus indicating that they should be abandoned. 'For you,' refers to the fact that it is unreasonable for you to be amazed at this common thing. 'Virtue,' refers to being attached to those who possess virtue and hating the opposite of those who do not, because both faults and virtues come from the same object, so one does not know which of the two is true. 'Foolish,' refers to being immersed in the absence of virtue, and conversely, being immersed in the reversal of virtue. As long as one does not know another man, one stays with her, and once one knows, it spreads to others like a bad disease, which needs to be guarded by skillful means. Also, what young people do, old people do not like, because they regret it, and liberated saints do not grieve and crave for it, so it is wrong. Also, for those who have no attachment, there is no pleasure of non-attachment, and attachment is not possessed by fools, but is not possessed by the extremely wise, and always distracts the mind, so what is that pleasure like? It is a perverse thought. Respectful behavior towards a woman shows that one should not regard her as one's own. If through action, then happiness does not need a woman, because she destroys happiness and the root of happiness. One should abandon happiness and the root of happiness. The happiness that arises from other things, such as from seeds and improper things, etc. Regarding non-causes as causes, therefore it is called a cause. Those afflicted with leprosy, scabies, and burns, if scratched, just as scratching produces endless diseases, because of attachment and being overwhelmed by delusion, one does not see the faults in it. One should cut off attachment through the worldly and transmundane paths. Those afflicted by hunger, when famine occurs, even if they are subjected to various insults by merciless rich people, just as later almsgiving can be endured, so too are the unbearable actions of body and speech of those attached to women. Showing attachment to evil and jealousy is arrogance, some are attached to toilets and women, some are jealous of those who do not have both, and boast of having both at the same time. Ignorance arises from impurity, which is ignorance. The reason why lust should not arise is: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because it leads to indulgence in pleasurable things. As it is said: 'One should never look, where would there be suitable sights? If it is said that attachment will arise from this, alas, the world is truly dark!' For children or people, if a place evokes disgust, then the action and the body should be connected. Clean objects, such as flowers, fragrances, clothes, and decorations, etc., once they come into contact with the body, will eventually become impure. One should think in this way, just as the ocean turns all clean rivers into saltiness. One should remove feces and be ashamed of those who, like worms, arrogantly believe themselves to be clean due to ignorance, because they have resided in their mother's feces for a long time. One should use methods such as cleansing and mantra water, etc. If one strives to cleanse the inner body, then one will realize that the external impure body is not so. Lepers and those with urinary and fecal incontinence are equally impure, but one is abandoned and the other is accepted, which entirely depends on whether the situation has become unbearable. Just like abandoning lepers, those with urinary and fecal incontinence are not the same for everyone. If the situation becomes unbearable, then everyone will abandon them. Therefore, those ascetic practitioners have not realized that these two are the same, and that is why they take wives. To develop attachment to impure things because of fragrance and decorations is like liking a mutilated nose. This means that the function of the nose has been lost. If those without desire see it, disgust will arise, so it should not be considered pure. Even for clean things like flowers, those without desire will not develop attachment, so it must be thought in this way, and connect clean things, because there is no object, so the clinging to cleanliness is a reversed view. In short, clinging to one thing, that is the inner aggregates, for both existence and meaning, are impermanent, transient, impure, disgusting, painful, harmful, and selfless, without autonomy. Therefore, all four objects and attachments regarding permanence, happiness, self, and purity are reversed. This is the third discourse on how to abandon the clinging to purity. This is the fourth discourse on how to abandon the clinging to self. Explaining how to abandon the reversed clinging to self through the example of a king, that is 'I', which is arrogance and pride, in whom among the saints or wise ones in the three realms would it arise? What is the reason? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
