Because refuting two views is to truly reveal the law of sound. Therefore, to act with reason is to treat what should not be done as what should be done. Therefore, you, because of ignorance, are like a child, dying without discrimination. This child is happy to go to the next life, and even if no words are spoken, it will be shown by aging, because from birth to death, there is only aging. Aging actually foreshadows death, and if it does not foreshadow, it will not disappear. Therefore, do not grieve because the child acts with reason, but grieve for your own ignorance. Strive to create the cause of having children, but grieve for its fruit—death—which is a contradiction. This shows that just as a father loves his child, those young, lovely, and pleasing children will forget the kindness of the elderly. Therefore, the formation of the world is like water flowing downwards, not upwards. Therefore, even attaining the upper realms is difficult, let alone liberation, because they do not crave the upper realms, so they will not create the cause of the upper realms. Therefore, just as the sound of a bell gradually disappears, those who have no gratitude, their white dharma will gradually disappear, and eventually they will lose both the upper realms and liberation. Furthermore, if the child is disobedient, there is nothing to love, so there should be no attachment and sorrow. If obedient, then this attachment is only like a transaction. Attachment when obedient, and disappearance when disobedient, what is the use of leaving footprints? Furthermore, the suffering of separation from a loved one is not just something people say, but a feeling from the heart. Not only that, but for attachment, one must also see the instability of separation from suffering. Therefore, attachment immediately brings fear and pacifies the suffering caused by it. If someone says that doing so is to conform to worldly customs, then even for this purpose, one is tormented by grief, knowing that there is no benefit in doing so, yet still outwardly pretending to be moral, which is unreasonable, and what is the use of this hypocritical behavior? Furthermore, sorrow is a feast of suffering, and for a wanderer, there is no need to add more suffering. This shows that suffering is like turning a wound into a boil, doing what is not desired. Gathering and scattering are inevitable, so it is unreasonable to assert one and abandon the other. This shows that 'whose' (Tibetan: གང་གི་) refers to the auspicious goddess (Tibetan: བཀྲ་ཤིས་མ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: श्री, Sanskrit Romanization: śrī, literal meaning: auspicious) and... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like a black crow. (སྣ་ནག་མ་བཞིན་ནོ།) Since both union and separation are without beginning due to the existence of ignorance (མ་རིག་པ་), it is unreasonable to see one and not see the other. Therefore, one should either accept both or reject both. What is to be explained is that 'past' (འདས་ལ་ཞེས་པ་སྟེ་) means that there has been no separation from a long time ago, which is not visible, because it is unreasonable to grieve as if one had never seen it before. If one is attached to the moment of union, then moments to years will lead one to death, like an enemy. Furthermore, foolish you, if you do not leave home for fear of separation from relatives, then which wise person would wait for the punishment of the Lord of Death and practice liberation? If one thinks of practicing Dharma after finishing one's affairs, then if one has to let go after doing them, then there is no need to do them in the first place. What is to be explained is 'you' (ཁྱོད་འདི་ཞེས་པ་ཡིན་ནོ།). The result of being accustomed to the impermanence of death is 'I' (བདག་ནི་ཞེས་པ་སྟེ་), even if one gives up attachment to life and is not afraid of the Lord of Death, then why would one be afraid of going to the forest and separating from relatives? Therefore, one should cultivate mindfulness of death and accomplish the noble path. The first chapter of the Four Hundred Verses on the Yogic Practices of a Bodhisattva (བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་སྤྱོད་པ་བཞི་བརྒྱ་པ་), composed by Master Aryadeva (སློབ་དཔོན་འཕགས་པ་ལྷས་), which explains the method of abandoning the clinging to permanence, is now complete. Chapter Two, on the method of abandoning the perverted view of clinging to pleasure in suffering. To explain the method of abandoning the perverted view of clinging to pleasure in suffering, it is said 'the body' (ལུས་ནི་ཞེས་གསུངས་ཏེ་), because it brings various harms like a venomous snake. The explanation of this is that 'people' (མི་རྣམས་ཞེས་པ་སྟེ་) refers to the five objects of desire (འདོད་ཡོན་ལྔའོ།). 'When' (གང་ཚེ་ནི་) refers to when suffering increases. 'Manifestation' (མངོན་ཕྱོགས་ནི་) refers to desire. 'Destruction' (འཇིག་པ་ནི་) refers to impermanence. 'Pursuit' (སྙེག་པ་ནི་) refers to following like a shadow. 'How' (ཅིས་དང་ཅི་སྟེ་ནི་) is a negative word, referring to not being attached to pleasure and not being afraid of suffering. 'Container' (སྣོད་ནི་) refers to the source, because pleasure turns into suffering. Previously, it was said to protect the body for the sake of the Dharma, but here it is forbidden to nourish the body for the sake of gluttony, so there is no contradiction. 'Prolonged' (འགོར་བ་ནི་) refers to nourishing the body with objects of desire for a long time. 'Suppression' (ཟིལ་གནོན་ནི་) refers to the nature of suffering not turning into pleasure, just as water does not flow upwards and iron does not turn into gold. To clearly show following like a shadow and nature, it is said 'kings and other noble ones' (རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་སོགས་པ་མཆོག་ལ་ཞེས་པ་སྟེ་), 'day by day' (ཉིན་རེ་ཉིན་རེ་ནི་རྒྱུན་མ་) refers to continuous.
