Because arising, etc. (jati-adi) do not occur simultaneously, since the occurrence of one contradicts the occurrence of another. Nor do they occur gradually, because when one exists, the other does not, and for non-existent things and individual things, there is no order. There is no other way, so when do these three occur? For all these three arising, etc., all these three occur again, that is, the three of arising of arising, etc., and from that, destruction resembling arising, for that also there are the three of arising, etc., and abiding resembling destruction, for abiding also three characteristics are needed, if they do not have these three characteristics, then it would be an unconditioned dharma (asamskrta-dharma), therefore these three must exist endlessly, so the root pot will not become a conditioned dharma, because the endless characteristic is uncertain, and when the characteristic is uncertain, the signified cannot be established. Moreover, if these two are different, then the basis (adhara) will not be impermanent, and it will become non-arising and non-abiding. Or, if these four are one, then these four will not be established as the nature of existence, because they are mixed together and cannot clearly appear as characteristic and signified. If arising is prevented, then the object of the result will not arise from the object of the cause, because if the result is established as an object, there is no need for arising. If the cause changes, then it will not become the nature of the object, because it is not the producer. An object will not arise from a non-object, because if it is established, there is no need for arising, and like a burnt seed, a non-object is not a producer. A non-object will not arise from a non-object, because these two have already been prevented. A non-object will not arise from an object, because the prevention of arising has already been prevented, so it will not arise from the collection of causes. Preventing arising and destruction, an object will not become an object, because that itself will not arise as that itself, and that itself will not arise as another. A non-object will not become an object, because poverty will become cessation. Preventing arising after preventing destruction, a non-object will not become a non-object, because like a rabbit's horn, there is no change. An object will not become a non-object, because they contradict each other. Therefore, there is no destruction. Even if there is no arising of existence and non-existence, if it is said that arising is arising, then it will not arise, because it is half arising, so it contains half existing arising and half non-existing arising. Or, if it is said that both the arisen and the unarisen are arising, then all three times will become arising. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or that which is being produced will become impossible to exist. Furthermore, to regard that which is being produced as its own nature of being produced, because it is the cause of being produced, it will not become being produced, because it has not yet become that. Not to regard that which is being produced as its own nature will also not become being produced, because it cannot establish being produced, so it contradicts being produced. Therefore, since there is no being produced, it will not be produced. If the past and future both exist, then between these two there is being produced, because it is dependent on that to establish the past and future, if one thinks so. Then, whichever opponent thinks that there is no being produced between the past and future, existence is impossible, because that being produced between them will become not being produced, because in that being produced itself there are two states, the born and the unborn, and in that there is also a third state and so on, endlessly, if these states do not exist, then the first intermediate state will also become non-existent, because the past and future are unreal, so an intermediate state is not possible. If because that which is being produced is the seed ceasing, the sprout is produced, the cause that is about to cease, then besides the half-born and half-unborn being produced, there is a state of almost producing the fruit, if one thinks so. When it is already produced, being produced is impossible, because it has ceased and disappeared. It cannot be inferred by the sign of its being produced, because it itself does not exist. Then, the already produced itself is being produced, if one thinks so. When one thinks that the already produced itself is being produced, then that being produced will be produced, because being produced is associated with production, and the already produced has no production. From this it is inferred that being produced is only that which has not yet been produced, manifestly tending towards production, this is called being produced. 'It is said', 'it is thought', 'it is said' these words are tones that express the views of others. This has no difference from the born and the unborn, because they are the same, why not think that there is no pot at the time of the born? Because it is admitted that the unproduced thing does not exist, and the being produced thing is the same. Furthermore, being produced, although not completely finished producing, but because it is related to the act of producing, it is different from the unproduced, and that which has not finished producing is also like that, so it is also different from the produced, because it is neither born nor unborn, so it is a direct contradiction, it is impossible for a third state to exist, therefore since there is no being produced, the unproduced will be produced. Furthermore, that which is being produced, although it did not appear before, later exists and appears. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
