Having heard, it never enters inside, nor can its transfer be found. Due to the power of concepts, sound arises. For example, relying on wood and strings, and the effort of the hand, when these three come together, instruments like the lute and flute produce sound. Then, some wise people investigate, inquiring where the sound comes from and where it goes. They search in all directions and corners, but cannot determine the origin or destination of the sound. As it is said in the scriptures. As mentioned above, after refuting the senses' attachment to objects, now to explain the refutation of mind: If the mind goes to the object together with the senses, then the body will be separated from the senses. If the mind is separated from the senses, what can it do to the object? Because even the blind or deaf can use the mind to see or hear the object. The word 'also' here is used to exclude the situation where the mind has not gone to the object. The mind wanders to the object separated from the senses, since this is the case, then sentient beings are not always unintentional? If not, it will fall into a state of unintentionality, and if this is admitted, it will become selfless, like a vase. If the senses, meaning, and consciousness are all absent, then there will be no perception of clinging to characteristics. If someone says that it does not exist in ultimate truth, but in conventional truth, the present mind clings to things seen in the past and disappeared like a mirage, even if there is no water, it clings to water. Then, this dharma of clinging to past objects, that is, the conceptual framework of all knowable things, is called the aggregate of perception. Worldly people and treatise writers all believe that it exists and understand it as it is. Moreover, it exists in mutual dependence like the mind and the hut, so it has no self-nature. This also shows that the mind without concepts has no perception. This seems to contradict the Abhidharma, which describes perception as universally present. Another reason is that if the sutras say that the consciousness arising from dependence on the eye and form is like an illusion, then for the consciousness that has its own nature, it should not be called an illusion, just as the external or internal existence is not called an illusion. Since the Buddha said that consciousness is like an illusion, then the perception corresponding to it must also be without self-nature. The sutra says: 'With the meaning of complete knowledge, clinging to perception is certain.' The Buddha did not find any dharma that would produce perception. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus it is said. If one examines, isn't it strange that the consciousness of the sense organs appears to grasp objects even when it doesn't actually grasp them? If, for those skilled in examining the absence of inherent existence, emptiness is not strange, because when there is no inherent existence, the consciousness of the senses and conceptual thought is just like that. I wish that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana, through rational examination, would appear in various ways even though they lack inherent existence. Although it doesn't actually exist, it appears, and an example of lacking inherent existence is like 'འགལ་མེ་' (Tibetan, spark), which is like the edge of a wheel, actually non-existent but appearing. Also, like smoke in a corner, echoes in a cave, clouds appearing as mountains, and so on. Similarly, the three realms of existence also appear in various forms due to karma and various afflictions. Nirvana, for the noble ones, also transforms into various kinds of great and small qualities due to various factors such as hearing, thinking, meditating, and making aspirations. The Ornament of the Sutras says: 'ཇི་ལྟར་མདུད་པའི་དབང་གིས་ནི། །གོས་ལ་ཚོན་བཀྲ་མི་བཀྲ་བ། །དེ་བཞིན་འཕེན་པའི་དབང་གིས་ཀྱང་། །གྲོལ་བའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་བཀྲ་མི་བཀྲ། །' (Tibetan, Just as the tightness of a knot determines the brightness of the colors on a cloth, similarly, the force of karma determines the clarity of the wisdom of liberation.). (Tibetan, Who can be like a rhinoceros horn, and who can learn to follow in your footsteps? Mere peace is not enough to compare with you, but rather the immeasurable collection of qualities.). Therefore, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are produced by interdependent origination and lack inherent existence; just as the cause is, so is the result. The Mother of the Buddhas says: Even if there is nirvana and a dharma more supreme than it, both are like dreams and illusions. This is the commentary on the thirteenth chapter on refuting the senses and objects. The fourteenth chapter on refuting extreme views. When explaining the refutation of extreme views, it speaks of 'things.' If things were not dependently originated, then they would be established by their own nature. But things are dependently originated, relying on other factors, so they do not have their own essence or inherent existence. As the Samkhya school and the owl, an emanation of Ishvara, say: 'རྫས་དང་ཡོན་ཏན་ལས་དང་སྤྱི། །བྱེ་བྲག་འདུ་བ་རྣམ་པ་དྲུག །' (Tibetan, substance, guna (Sanskrit Devanagari, guna, Sanskrit Romanization, guna, quality), karma (Sanskrit Devanagari, karma, Sanskrit Romanization, karma, action), sāmānya (Sanskrit Devanagari, sāmānya, Sanskrit Romanization, samanya, generality), viśeṣa (Sanskrit Devanagari, viśeṣa, Sanskrit Romanization, vishesha, particularity), samavāya (Sanskrit Devanagari, samavāya, Sanskrit Romanization, samavaya, inherence) six kinds.), preventing the consideration of these six meanings of words as the only knowable. (Tibetan, form, smell, taste, touch, number, quantity, distinctness, combination, and other distinctions, eleven are considered qualities of substance.), color and shape are not the pot itself, because wherever there is color, there must be a pot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
