To the west of the Bodhisattva Hall, subdued the many demon armies led by the demon king Khedrapala (Tibetan: ཁེ་དྲ་པཱ་ལ་, meaning 'Khedra', Sanskrit: Khadga, meaning 'sword'; Tibetan: པཱ་ལ་, meaning 'hero', Sanskrit: Pāla, meaning 'protector') and Rudrapala (Tibetan: རུ་དྲ་པཱ་ལ་, meaning 'Rudra', Sanskrit: Rudra, meaning 'wrathful'; Tibetan: པཱ་ལ་, meaning 'hero', Sanskrit: Pāla, meaning 'protector'), and the abode of the earth goddess. On the left and right sides behind it, stone statues facing west are erected, with stone mandalas. It is said that these two statues taught the Dharma to Jowo Rinpoche (Tibetan: ཇོ་བོ་རྗེ་, meaning 'supreme lord'). Behind the northern cloister is a fresco of the Buddha's birth in Lumbini (Sanskrit: Lumbinī, meaning 'lovely'). On the back of the Gandhola (Tibetan: གནྡྷོ་ལ, meaning 'incense chamber'), a thousand Buddhas are carved in relief, along with sutra patterns, bird and crocodile designs, and many fine sculptures of deer, lions, and so on. On the southwest corner of the outer edge of the stone wall, there is a place twenty cubits long where the Buddha preached the first chapter of the 'Wise and Foolish Sutra'. There is a throne for preaching the Dharma, and a single Aśoka (Sanskrit: Aśoka, meaning 'without sorrow') tree. Five Arhats received their Bhikshu vows here and attained Arhatship. In this place, there are five square stupas, with a thousand Buddha statues enshrined in the central stupa. It is said that these were all built in one night by the eight classes of gods, humans, and non-humans. After that, in the eight great sacred places of Sarnath (Sanskrit: Sārnāth, meaning 'deer park'), Varanasi (Sanskrit: Vārānasī, meaning 'city between the Varuna and Asi rivers'), Shravasti (Sanskrit: Śrāvastī, meaning 'famous'), Rajagriha (Sanskrit: Rājagṛha, meaning 'king's residence'), Vaishali (Sanskrit: Vaiśālī, meaning 'vast'), Samkashya (Sanskrit: Sāṃkāśya, meaning 'Samkasya'), Kushinagar (Sanskrit: Kuśināgara, meaning 'grass city'), and Bodh Gaya (Sanskrit: Bodhgayā, meaning 'place of enlightenment'), eight great stupas called Dharmarajaka (Tibetan: དྷརྨ་རཱ་ཛ་ཀ, meaning 'Dharma King') were built, each containing a relic of the Buddha in a vase. These were all built in one night. The Bodh Gaya stupa is located southeast of the Nairanjana River (Sanskrit: Nairañjanā, meaning 'immaculate'), and is a very large, round, stepped stupa. Next to these eight stupas, there are eight large stone pillars with different symbols carved on them, representing the work done in one night by the eight classes of gods, humans, and non-humans. The symbol at Bodh Gaya is a stupa built by the gods. To the south of it are three stupas built by the king's son and three queens, fifteen cubits high, with statues of gods enshrined in vases, with platforms and stairs. It is said that the king also lived there and participated in these constructions. It is said that the statues and stupas built during the Buddha's activities were also built by this king at that time. Eight great stupas were also built in Bodh Gaya. To the west of it, countless stupas enshrining the relics of the Buddha were built throughout Jambudvipa (Sanskrit: Jambudvīpa, meaning 'rose-apple island'). After that, he became a Dharma king and was known as Dharma Akosha Ashoka (Tibetan: དྷརྨ་ཨ་ཀོ་ཤ་ཨ་ཤོ་ཀ་, meaning 'Dharma', Sanskrit: Dharma, meaning 'Dharma'; Tibetan: ཨ་ཀོ་ཤ་, meaning 'space', Sanskrit: Ākāśa, meaning 'space'; Tibetan: ཨ་ཤོ་ཀ་, meaning 'without sorrow', Sanskrit: Aśoka, meaning 'without sorrow'). After Ajatashatru (Sanskrit: Ajātaśatru, meaning 'unborn enemy') reigned for thirty-two years, Ashoka appeared in the tenth generation. He ruled for fifty years. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is said to possess a quarter of the power of a Chakravartin king (universal ruler). The fourth chapter, 'How King Ashoka Acted,' concludes. The Fifth Chapter: The Method Composed by the Noble Nagarjuna and Others Now, the method composed by the master Nagarjuna and others will be explained. Thereafter, Nagarjuna and others, By the wise and faithful, The place of all Buddhas of the three times, The Vajra Seat (Bodh Gaya) was expanded. Four hundred years after the Buddha's passing, the master Nagarjuna appeared and constructed the outer courtyard of the Vajra Seat, which had twenty stone pillars with shoulders. Outside of that, to protect the Bodhi tree from harm by elephants, a stone fence with one hundred and one stone pillars was constructed. In the east, there are eight Taras and eight protectors, and it is said that if one sees them all, one will surely obtain a certain accomplishment, but few see them. Above the outer courtyard, four large and small stupas were built. When the master Nagarjuna was circumambulating, he took a self-arisen Tara from inside a pillar, and she said, 'Do not take me, leave me here for the benefit of sentient beings,' and so she remained there, and a Tso Pema temple was built. Therefore, it is known as the Pillar Tara, located inside the iron fence on the southeast side of the Vajra Seat, facing north. Now it is three cubits high, and it is said that when it reaches four cubits high, the master Nagarjuna will also appear. That statue was initially self-arisen, about one cubit high, and it continues to grow larger. There, the master planted five Champaka trees, saying, 'If I break my vows, they will not grow, but if I do not break my vows, they will grow,' and so they grew. At the root of that, there is a statue called 'Guest Tara,' which naturally arose from an island in the southern ocean, one cubit high, facing north, and is enshrined inside a stupa. On the northern circumambulation path, there is a Tso Pema temple with a single Tara about one cubit high, which was initially built by a patron facing north, but he felt that the dust from circumambulating would get on the statue and that it was not good to turn his back on the Buddha, so in a dream, Tara told him, 'You do not need to worry, it is enough for me to face south,' and so the temple and the statue turned to face south, and therefore it is known as the 'Turning-Faced Tara'. Near its east side, the master Chandragomin constructed Chandralokeshvara (Moon-like Avalokiteśvara), the main deity and five attendants, along with a rocky mountain, all made of stone, enshrined in a Gandhola, which is very blessed, so there are many clay statues.
