在那个地方,Zanglingba(莲花生大士的化身)建造了一座佛塔,里面有同样的佛像。

From the lake and the sea, there were stone steps leading to the Buddha's presence. Then, proceeding westward, they arrived at a cold region where the Naga king, in the form of a coiled serpent, entwined the Buddha's body and covered his head with its hood. In that place, Zanglingba (a reincarnation of Padmasambhava) built a stupa containing a similar image of the Buddha. To the east of that stupa, about an arrow's distance away, at the site where the Four Great Kings offered bowls, there is a stupa, and beside the stupa, there is a cubit-high statue of the Buddha, depicted with the Four Great Kings offering bowls. On the sixth week, proceeding one krosha northward, there is a place where a wandering ascetic was subdued, and at the foot of a banyan tree, there is a stupa. Then, on the seventh week, near the eastern gate of Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), behind the iron fence, on the right side of the main road, at the site where the merchants Gagon and Zangskyong offered honey and the Buddha spoke auspicious words, there is an image of the Buddha and the merchants carved on the wall of the stupa. Then, proceeding southwest from Vajrasana, under a banyan tree, the Buddha remained without teaching, and at the site where Brahma and Indra requested him to teach, there is a stupa called 'Adisha under the Banyan Tree,' with doors facing north and south. Inside the stupa, there is a medium-sized statue of the Buddha, facing west, and beside it, there are images of Brahma and Indra. From teaching the five disciples in Varanasi to passing into Nirvana, these are stories of medium length. This is the description of the Buddha's deeds, end of the second chapter. Chapter Three: The Deeds of the Three Brahmin Brothers Now, the deeds of the three Brahmin sons will be described. In Rajagriha, the three Brahmin sons erected three images of the Buddha in Light Garden (Venuvana), Varanasi, and Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya). One hundred years after the Buddha's Nirvana, in Rajagriha, there was a Brahmin woman, one hundred and twenty years old, who invited the Buddha to teach and listened to the Dharma. She had three sons, two of whom were followers of non-Buddhist paths, and the youngest was devoted to Buddhism, and they constantly argued. The mother said, 'From here, go north, and on the Snow Mountain (Mount Kailash) there is a great Ishvara (Shiva), ask him.' They went there and saw about five hundred Arhats being honored. They asked which was the truth, the inner path or the outer path. They replied, 'The happiness of the heavens is attained by the non-Buddhists, but liberation is attained only by the Buddhists.' They returned to their mother, and all of them became Buddhists. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At that time, because the supports of the Three Jewels (Triratna) were scarce, the largest one, in Rajagriha, in the Bright Garden (Venuvana), Kalandaka Venuvana, made a sandalwood statue equal to the Buddha's height, twenty-one cubits tall, and placed it there. The middle one, in Varanasi, at the place where the Wheel of Dharma was first turned, made a very large Buddha statue, making the gesture of turning the Wheel of Dharma, and placed it in the sandalwood statue. The smallest one went to Bodh Gaya, wanting to make a Buddha statue, and it was shown in a dream: 'On the bank of the Nairanjana River, under the sand, there is Gorṣa Candana. Use three thousand taels of it, and have seven pure Brahmin women grind it in Bodh Gaya, then mix it with various jewels and spices, pile it under the Bodhi tree, and leave it for seven days, and a body like the Buddha will be accomplished.' There, because sandalwood was not found, many buffaloes were seen lying on the sand, and it was guessed that they were staying cool, so the sandalwood was found. Then, as instructed earlier, it was done. After six days, an old woman came and said, 'I am going to die tonight. No one else has seen the Buddha, so I don't know if it is like him or not. Open the door for me.' When the door was opened, the face was one and a half cubits long, facing east, the crown of the head was broken by one cubit, the eyes and face were each missing one finger, the ears were two cubits high and eight cubits wide, adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks, so much so that one could not get enough of looking at it. The old woman said, 'The crown of the Buddha is invisible, but this one is visible; the Buddha has a halo of one cubit, but this one does not; the Buddha has four modes of conduct: walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, but this one only has sitting; except for the difference between speaking and not speaking the Dharma, it is very similar.' Because one day was missing, the managers thought that the hair of the crown swirling to the right was incomplete, and some thought that the little fingers of the hands and feet were incomplete. The pandits of Vikramasila Monastery thought that the halo of one cubit was incomplete. There, a sapphire (Indranila) was found, and it was thought that if two were found, they would be made into eyes. As a result, it fell on a stone and broke into two pieces, and it was made into eyes, which had a deep blue light. Some people think that the makers of these three statues were Khenpo Tho Tsun Drubje and Dedzin Dakpo, but this is not the case, because these two were mentioned by Khenpo Sherab Gocha in eastern India. For the managers, the teeth and fangs were not offered with fire. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
