This Yoga Ground has shown the nature of the cause and effect of Yoga. The first three are the cause, and the transformation of the basis is the effect, appearance is its own nature. Seventh, explaining the difference between being skilled in the Dharma and abiding in the Dharma, there are two parts. First, explaining being skilled through the five Dharmas: The Venerable Kungawo said: "The venerable Shariputra, a monk who possesses the five Dharmas, quickly grasps it." These and other words come from the Sutra Pitaka, establishing the basis of this treatise, how does one who is skilled in the Dharma quickly grasp it? It is because by hearing much, the words and letters are mostly solid and proficient. How does one who is skilled in meaning grasp much? It is because by knowing the characteristics of the Abhidharma and so on, one can encompass many words and phrases at the base of the discussion of the aggregates and so on. How does one who is skilled in letters and definitive words grasp without mistaking the meaning of the words, and grasp well? It is said that the former knows all knowable things, so he knows the letters of good definitive words such as "all-knowing," and he knows how to apply terms without being attached to the definitive words of the local people. How is it that one who is skilled in the intention of the previous and subsequent ends does not lose what he has grasped? It is because by relying on the Dharma grasped at the previous end, he understands the meaning of the intention of those subsequent ends, knowing that it can be definitely generated by merely hearing, so he can take its essence. As it is also said in the Ornament of Realization: "By knowing the meaning, all Dharmas, should be understood as being like a raft, abandoning those who are content with hearing, therefore it is said to be a Dharma." Thus it is said. Second, abiding in the Dharma has two parts. The first: In the Sutra called "The Monk Abiding in the Dharma," it is said: Without relying on meditation, merely by perfecting everything, reciting, speaking much, and thinking much, etc., through the practice of hearing and thinking alone, one is not abiding in the Dharma, thus it is established, because one has abandoned the Dharma of realization, Yoga, etc. Without relying on hearing and thinking, merely by the practice of meditation, one is not fully abiding in the Dharma, thus it is established, because one has abandoned the Dharma of the scriptures. Therefore, the Bhagavan said that the monk abiding in the Dharma

Therefore, starting from the Bhikshu, relying on both hearing, thinking, and meditation, and abiding in both, one should know that this is abiding in the Dharma. The Bhikshu should fully understand, recite, and extensively explain all the Dharma, such as the Sutra Pitaka and the treatises on prosody, and engage in much contemplation, etc., extensively teaching, and afterwards saying, "Do not abandon yoga," etc. The explanation of the meaning of the scriptures is: First, in order to grasp the words or fully understand them, and after grasping them, to purify them, reciting and explaining to others should be regarded as showing what arises from hearing and thinking. Focusing the mind on Samadhi and not being content with what has been attained, these two should be regarded as showing what arises from meditation. Among these, there are two ways to focus the mind on Samadhi: continuously immersing oneself and respectfully focusing on it, which is shown by "Do not abandon yoga." By focusing without reversing on permanence, etc., in summary, this should be regarded as shown by "Do not abandon mindfulness." Not being content with what has been attained is shown by "Do not abandon keeping the mind in tranquility within," because tasting the flavor, one will be satisfied with the initial Samadhi, and therefore will not practice from one state to another, while not tasting the flavor, one will practice tranquility from one state to another. Eighth, the explanation of the particularly vast excellence is divided into seven aspects: the reason why the extremely vast is established as the Paramita Pitaka; the reason why it is shown in a profound and extensive way; the reason why some do not believe in it; the reason why even if they believe, they may not necessarily realize it; the secret meaning of saying that all phenomena are without inherent existence, etc.; the benefits of Dharma for Samadhi in it; and the reason why it is worthy of offering. The first point is: Why is the extremely vast called the Bodhisattva's Paramita Pitaka in other scriptures? Because there, the six Paramitas, etc., which should be practiced by the Bodhisattvas, are shown in terms of ten aspects, such as determining the number. Among these, there are two kinds of numbers: the number to be counted and the number that is just that much. Among these, the so-called six Paramitas are the numbers to be counted. The higher realms and definite goodness of the Bodhisattva path, possessing all aspects, are summarized by two, three, and three, therefore there are six Paramitas, neither too many nor too few.
