Rejoicing in the generosity and so forth of all sentient beings in the world. Meditating with the mind of manifest joy is to rejoice in the distinction of the perfections of oneself and others in the future. Meditation that abides in intention is sixfold: the intention of non-satiety, the intention of vastness, the intention of joy, the intention of benefiting, the intention of non-attachment, and the intention of virtue. Among these, the non-satiety of a Bodhisattva's generosity is that even if, for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges, at each moment, filling realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with the seven precious things, and emanating bodies as numerous as that, giving to each and every sentient being as much as that, they are not satiated, this is non-satiety with generosity. Until sitting at the heart of enlightenment, such generosity, one after another, without ceasing for even a moment, is the vast intention of generosity. The Bodhisattva who gives in this way rejoices, but the sentient beings who receive the generosity do not rejoice as much, this is the intention of joy. The Bodhisattva thinks that the sentient beings, the objects of generosity, have greatly benefited me, but the sentient beings do not think that the Bodhisattva has benefited them as much, this is the intention of benefiting. Not expecting a return or fruition for such merit arising from generosity is the intention of non-attachment. Sharing the fruition of such merit arising from generosity with all sentient beings and dedicating it to perfect enlightenment is the intention of virtue. Again, a Bodhisattva, for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges, transforms into as many bodies, and continuously lacks all necessities, and when the three thousand worlds are filled with fire, they still perform the four activities, and at each moment meditate from discipline to wisdom, yet they are not satiated by this, this is non-satiety with the five perfections of discipline and so forth. The vast intention of these and so forth is as before. Showing the detailed distinctions is that each has three. The three generosities are the generosity of Dharma, the generosity of material things, and the generosity of fearlessness. The three disciplines are the discipline of vows, the discipline of gathering virtue,

The discipline of acting for the benefit of sentient beings. The three types of patience are: not minding harm, accepting suffering, and having a definite belief in the Dharma. The three types of diligence are: armor-like diligence and diligence in acting for the benefit of sentient beings. The three types of meditative concentration are: the qualities of dwelling in bliss in this very life, and the meditative concentration of accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings. The three types of wisdom are: wisdom that focuses on the conventional, wisdom that focuses on the ultimate, and wisdom that focuses on the benefit of sentient beings. Showing the summary: All virtuous dharmas are summarized by these six, and these six are also summarized by them, because their characteristics, such as faith, are in accordance with them, and the ten powers and so on are the result of them. Showing the opposing side: Stinginess, immoral discipline, anger, laziness, distraction, and immoral wisdom summarize all defilements. Showing the praise of qualities: Those who are wealthy, go to good destinies, have many attendants, accomplish their tasks, have little harm, and are skilled in all fields of knowledge are free from faults and remain close to acting for the benefit of all beings until they reach enlightenment. Showing the determination of one on one is threefold: that which arises from combination, that which arises from differentiation, and that which arises from differentiation and showing. The first is that each of the perfections is practiced with six complete sets of six. The second is the differentiation by nature, the differentiation by following, the differentiation by combination, and the differentiation by generation. The first is giving, restraining from harm, not minding, manifest joy, abiding in mind, and thoroughly distinguishing, which is the nature of giving and so on. The second is that when engaging in giving and so on, the other perfections follow after them, just like the former. The third is to cause to engage in holding the six, to praise and extol, and to rejoice greatly in engaging. The fourth is to place the six in the mindstream of others. That which arises from differentiation and showing: Is that which is the perfection of giving also the perfection of discipline? Answer: Yes.
