Secondly, it is what should be abandoned by quiescence. Because the path of seeing enters through the union of quiescence and insight. The noble hearers simultaneously abandon both what should be abandoned by insight and what should be abandoned by quiescence. Furthermore, when abandoning the afflictions that should be abandoned by seeing suffering, the remaining ones, such as those that should be abandoned by seeing the origin, will also be abandoned. Thus, when the suchness of the truth of suffering is realized, the suchness of the remaining truths is also realized. Otherwise, the path of seeing would not be suitable as a non-conceptual nature, because the aspects of the mind change gradually for the truths, like the conceptualizations of numbers and so on. The way of abandoning afflictions can also be clearly explained through examples, such as when a doctor treats a boil, if he knows that the boil is completely ripe, he will first pierce it with a sharp knife. As much as it is pierced, that much pus will flow out, but it will not flow out completely. If it is sufficiently rubbed and repeatedly rubbed, then whatever pus is congealed will also flow out, but the wound will not be clean and healed. In order to heal the wound, it will be covered with flour ointment or cloth with oil. In this way, through the covering of flour ointment or cloth with oil, the wound will gradually heal. This is an example made for the sake of understanding the meaning. Among them, the meaning is, just like the ripening of a boil, it is the objects like the place of leakage of the leaks that should be abandoned by seeing. Just like piercing with a knife, it is the path of seeing belonging to the aspect of insight. Just like rubbing, it should be regarded as the path belonging to the aspect of quiescence. Just like pus, it should be regarded as the leaks belonging to the latent tendencies that should be abandoned by seeing. Just like the healing of a wound, it should be regarded as the leaks with their roots that should be abandoned by meditation. Flour ointment

Just as with wine dregs or cloth smeared with oil, the path of meditation should be observed. If asked, with what kind of mind is the path of seeing perfected? To this, some schools posit the path of seeing as having fifteen moments, while others think it is exhausted in just one direct realization. The old Tibetan teachers also spoke in many different ways. What confidence can one have in establishing things based solely on the words of others? Therefore, I will establish it based on the treatises of the great chariots, which are free from error. Among them, the noble Nagarjuna considers the path of seeing to be of the nature of a single moment. In the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: "If there is a gap for the knowledge of phenomena, and there is a difference in this, then even for extremely subtle things, who can analyze their arising? Those who do not analyze well do not see the meaning of arising from conditions." Moreover, in its commentary, the glorious Chandrakirti says: "Thus, with the knowledge of phenomena that focuses on dependent arising as being without arising or ceasing, the two truths, dependent arising, are not born by their own nature, and seeing that Nirvana is also of that nature, it is exhausted in one direct realization." If that is the case, how are the fifteen moments of the path of seeing established? Some schools do not think that the path of seeing has fifteen moments, but think that it is exhausted in one direct realization, and the views and statements of those people are not contradictory. Even according to those who think there are fifteen moments, it is for the sake of taming beings, because explaining it brings benefit, so the nature of one wisdom is divided and established as fifteen. And so on. So, how is one wisdom divided and established as fifteen or sixteen moments? If one wants to know, it is because of the difference in realizing the unarisenness of the truth of suffering, etc., among the four truths of the desire realm, etc., that there are four types such as the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering. Because of the difference in not fearing to realize those unarisennesses, there are four types such as the forbearance of the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering. The four truths, such as the suffering of the upper realms, arise
