Those who catch snakes and live with affection. Listeners are those who live by deceiving and coaxing others. In short, it refers to the evil-wishing bodhisattvas who engage in harming others in various ways. So, how long does it take to acquire this karma? Those who are born into the profession of butchers, etc., can acquire it when they are able to engage in that profession. As for those who are born into other professions, they acquire it by truly vowing "I will live by this karma" or by generating this thought themselves. In short, it is acquired by definitely engaging in those professions. As it is said, "Not doing the vows, or making a promise, one will obtain." So, through what is it abandoned? As it is said, "From non-vows obtaining vows, death and the appearance of hermaphrodites." It is as it is said. Third, karma that is neither vows nor non-vows refers to meritorious deeds such as generosity and pleasant speech, which do not possess the characteristics of both vows and non-vows, and minor non-meritorious deeds such as punching and kicking. Thus, those with vows also generate intermediate non-meritorious deeds, and those without vows also generate intermediate meritorious deeds. Fourth, explaining from the perspective of the nature of the result: the meritorious deeds of the desire realm and the first three of the first dhyana are karma that will experience happiness, because in those realms there is a feeling of happiness gathered by maturation. Non-meritorious deeds are karma that will experience suffering, because all feelings of suffering gathered by maturation are the result of non-meritorious deeds. The meritorious deeds from the third dhyana upwards to the fourth dhyana are karma that will experience equanimity, because above that there is detachment from attachment to happiness. Fifth, explaining from the perspective of the time of experiencing, there are three types. The characteristic of the first type is: whatever karma is done in this life, it matures and transforms in the very moment it is done, this is called karma to be experienced in this life. Its fields are the samadhi of loving-kindness, the samadhi without afflictions, entering into cessation, the fruit of stream-entry, and the fruit of an arhat.
