It is only where there is a difference, but other than that, one does not obtain other dhyana vows. When one declines from being separated from desire, from attachment, then one will abandon it. The third is the vow of no outflows, which is the non-outflow abandonment of those who see the truth, who have completely destroyed the seeds of immoral discipline. Moreover, it is obtained at the time of realizing the truth, and the future fruition and the stage of the path of meditation are only different in terms of antidote and abandonment. In short, the dhyana vow is the warrior who possesses the defiled concentration that causes the seeds of all afflictions that arouse immoral discipline to decline, and the vow of no outflows is also the warrior who possesses the undefiled concentration that completely destroys the seeds of immoral conduct. This should be understood. Among them, the very vow that arises from the expression of proper acceptance, when the mind of dhyana is obtained, it is called the dhyana vow because the opposing factors have been pacified by quiescence. When that very dhyana vow realizes the truth, it is called the vow of no outflows because the seeds of the opposing factors have been completely destroyed. Therefore, for those noble hearers, the vows of individual liberation, the vows of dhyana, and the vows of no outflows are only different in name, but not different in substance. Similarly, for monks who have attained dhyana, the vows of individual liberation and the vows of dhyana are also only different in name, not in substance. Thus, if one considers a single basis, then all of its vows are included within the vow of no outflows. The dhyana vow includes all except the vow of no outflows. The bhikkhu's vow includes all except dhyana and no outflows. This is said in terms of a single person who possesses the three vows, but in general, the nature of these three vows is very different. For example, the vows that arise from the expression of proper acceptance, whatever is abandoned is only individually different.
