Therefore, without seeing the perfectly established nature, one will not see the dependent nature. The nature of the completely imputed nature is the object of children's minds, because children completely separate persons and phenomena and establish terms. Furthermore, the nature of the completely imputed nature is only to be understood. The dependent nature is both to be understood and to be abandoned. The perfectly established nature is both to be understood and to be realized. The differentiation of the three natures has been explained. Thus, after explaining the emptiness that is empty of the self of other meaning, in order to explain the selflessness of self-nature, which does not exist as the nature of self, it is asked what is the characteristic of selflessness. To this, the characteristics of the self, such as permanence, agent, and enjoyer, which are imputed as self by those who claim to have a self, are separate from the aggregates, etc., because they abide in the nature of impermanence, etc. For this reason, the aggregates, etc., are selfless. All phenomena whatsoever are exhausted in just these aggregates, elements, and sources. Considering that these are also selfless in terms of the nature of self, it is said that all phenomena are selfless. Incidentally, in order to explain the meaning of other sutras, it is asked what is the meaning of what the Bhagavan said, "All these are not mine," etc. To this, the meaning of "All these are not mine" is: external objects, such as food, clothing, etc., which are to be enjoyed, are not mine to be controlled or enjoyed. The meaning of "This is not me" is: the objects of the five aggregates, which are internally collected by one's own continuum, are not the enjoyer's self or the self-nature. The meaning of "This is not my self" is: the aggregates collected by the continuum of others, such as sons, wives, servants, and livestock, are not other selves to be controlled or enjoyed by me. Thus, that sutra only negates the form of belonging to me for external objects that are not collected by one's own continuum, because one only clings to them as belonging to me, and it is impossible to cling to them as self. For internal objects collected by one's own continuum, the forms of self and belonging to self are negated.

The two are blocked. Because of this, the self arises from being encompassed by one's own continuum, and the two aspects of self arise from being encompassed by others' continua. Fourth, there are three explanations of the differences between these: digressing on momentary impermanence, the general classification of suffering, and digressing on the suffering of death. The first also has two parts. Establishing that form is momentary: the characteristic of momentariness is impermanence itself. With regard to what has been said, since mind and mental factors arise in various forms from moment to moment, they are momentary. But how are external and internal forms momentary? Just as mind and mental factors are, external and internal forms should also be regarded as momentary. In this way, the internal bodies are grasped by the momentary mind, because they are one in establishment and happiness with the mind. That is, the body together with consciousness is truly established, but the body separated from consciousness changes into decay and so on. Furthermore, in states of happiness, suffering, desire, hatred, and so on, the body also appears to change into another form in accordance with the changes of the mind. The body with the senses is the place or basis where the momentary mind arises, because whatever relies on something does not perish as long as the basis does not perish, just as light does not perish as long as the lamp does not perish. Since the mind that relies on the body with the senses is observed to perish in an instant, its basis, the body, is also established to perish in an instant. External and internal forms are also momentary because they arise from the power of the momentary mind, because it is contradictory for the cause to be impermanent and the result to be permanent. As it is said in the sutra: "Whatever is the cause of the arising of form, and whatever is the condition, those are impermanent. How can form, which arises from relying on impermanent causes and conditions, become permanent?" Furthermore, external and internal forms are controlled by the momentary mind, because the mind, which is particularly superior in power, transforms external and internal forms in various ways according to its wishes.
