For example, like a bat among a flock of birds, the authentic views established by the great charioteers of China and Tibet have clearly turned outwards. The treatises of venerable Nāgārjuna and venerable Asaṅga and other great founders of the chariot lineages, which explain the definitive meaning of the Sugata's scriptures without any inversion, are like the orb of the sun. However, even though they exist merely as texts, they have become like a sunset because there are no individuals who fully realize their profound meaning. Due to not having the authentic view, and because of animosity from many lifetimes, some foolish individuals who have not become vessels for the profound, and who are blessed by demonic spirits, arbitrarily seize control of the meaning of the profound sutras taught through various intentions. From the power of this teaching, the darkness of evil views that grasp at the extremes of permanence and annihilation thickens like a dense fog. In this time, which is like night, they rise up from many directions like moths, and with the guise of the Sugata's essence, they repeatedly proclaim the sound of the evil view that clarifies the self of the Samkhya school. Therefore, many unfortunate sentient beings are sending forth the evil omens of a great drought that cuts off the life force for attaining liberation and omniscience. This is not the intention of any of the sutras of the Great or Small Vehicle, nor does it accord with any of the four philosophical schools, and it is not the intention of any of the great charioteers of China and Tibet. Therefore, it is solely an outsider's dharma, and so all those who cherish the Buddha's teachings should refute it. Here, I will also speak briefly in summary. Among them, the Vaibhāṣikas and the Sautrāntikas consider emptiness to be merely empty of a self of a person. That is, as it is said in the expression, "Where something is absent, that is empty of that." As it is said in the terminology, they believe that in the selflessness distinguished by permanence and so forth, only the aggregates and dharmas that are empty of it are established, and they believe that this is the nature of impermanence, suffering, and so forth, but they do not at all accept emptiness distinguished by permanence and so forth. Therefore, according to the earlier
