It is not, because it is a worldly path. Why is it a worldly path? Because it is with conceptualization, because regarding the characteristics of the truths such as impermanence, it clings to them as real by following after names. Therefore, these are not direct perception, nor are they inference, because that is thought-born, while these are born from meditation. Therefore, these are meditative stabilization and wisdom that are in accordance with correct analysis. Third, regarding the path of seeing, there are three aspects: its characteristics, its divisions, and the explanation of the meaning of the scriptures that it concerns. First: immediately following the supreme of Dharma, it is meditative stabilization and wisdom combined with non-apprehension of the self of persons and the self of phenomena. How is it non-apprehension? Because the object to be apprehended and the apprehending subject are both without inherent existence and are equal, therefore knowing equality is also the path of seeing. Yogis, each on their own, also know the Dharma by focusing on the suchness of eliminating the signs of sentient beings, etc., and that is also the path of seeing. How is it knowing the Dharma by eliminating the signs of sentient beings? Because they do not conceptually distinguish the sign of the self of persons in their own continuum. How is it knowing the Dharma by focusing on the elimination of the signs of phenomena? Because they do not conceptually distinguish the sign of phenomena such as form in their own continuum. How is it knowing the Dharma by focusing on the elimination of the signs of both in all things? Because they do not conceptually distinguish the signs of persons and phenomena without any difference in all the continua of themselves and others. What is the nature of the wisdom of this path of seeing? Are the afflictions to be abandoned abandoned gradually or all at once? With how many minds does the path of seeing become complete? In this regard, the wisdom of the path of seeing does focus on the truths such as suffering, but at that time, the signs of conceptualization such as "it is suffering" do not arise. However, the truths that were previously analyzed by worldly people with conventional knowledge, with no elaboration of signs by names, only knowing the suchness that is merely the meaning, therefore there is no sign.

Only this is reasonable. The latent predispositions of afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing are twofold: first, those related to the initial form and mind and mental factors, and second, those related to mind and mental factors. Among these, the former is to be abandoned by higher insight, and the latter is to be abandoned by calm abiding. Therefore, the path of seeing enters through the union of calm abiding and higher insight. Noble Hearers simultaneously abandon both what is to be abandoned by higher insight and what is to be abandoned by calm abiding. Furthermore, when abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing suffering, the remaining afflictions, such as those to be abandoned by seeing the origin, will also be abandoned. Thus, when the suchness of the truth of suffering is realized, the suchness of the remaining truths is also realized. Otherwise, the path of seeing would not be reasonably of a non-conceptual nature, because the aspects of the mind on the truths change differently in sequence, like the conceptualization of numbers and so on. The way of abandoning afflictions is also clearly explained through examples as follows: For example, a doctor who removes a boil, knowing that it is fully ripe, first pierces it with a sharp instrument. As much as it is pierced, that much pus will flow out, but it will not cause all the pus to flow out completely. As much as it is festered and extremely squeezed, and squeezed again and again, whatever pus is congealed will flow out, but the opening of the wound is not clean and healed. To heal the opening of the wound, it is necessary to apply flour wine residue or oily gauze. In this way, by applying flour wine residue or oily gauze, the wound will gradually heal. This is an example made for the purpose of clearly understanding the meaning. In this case, the meaning is like the ripening of a boil, which is like the place of leakage of the outflows to be abandoned by the path of seeing. Like piercing with a sharp instrument, it is the path of seeing on the side of higher insight. Like squeezing, it is on the side of calm abiding.
