Lo. Because of being separated from those two, they are called unborn and unoriginated in order. Suffering is also caused by previous actions and afflictions, and the actions and afflictions of the present cause other existences to manifest as the basis. In this way, the continuity of future existence will arise in a continuous manner. Conversely, they are called uncreated, uncompounded, and unborn in order. Having thus shown the characteristics of the truth of cessation, it is now time to show the general characteristics of the truth of cessation. That very truth is to be understood in four ways, namely, the characteristic of cessation and so on. Among them, because of being separated from all the afflictions that cause suffering, it is cessation. The nature of not being pacified by the suffering of conditioning, because of being separated from the aggregates of grasping, it is called peace. Because of being pure from afflictions and being the nature of happiness from being separated from suffering, it is called excellent. Because it does not regress, it is constant and happy, and it is the basis of benefit, therefore it is called definite departure. Having thus shown the truth of cessation to be realized, in order to explain the truth of the path to be practiced, it is said, "What is the truth of the path?" That also needs to be understood in three ways: briefly showing it through the way of action, explaining it in detail by dividing it into five, and summarizing it through the aspect of general characteristics. The first is, by what path can one fully understand the four truths, such as suffering, from the perspective of its own characteristics and general characteristics, and perform corresponding actions for each of the four truths, this is the concise characteristic of the truth of the path. The second is divided into two, namely, the antidote that ripens the continuum—the path of accumulation, the antidote that closely abandons—the path of preparation, the antidote that abandons one aspect—the path of seeing, the antidote that abandons everything—the path of meditation, and the path that is completely perfected and ultimate. This detailed distinction also needs to be understood as referring to the truth of the path and its retinue, because the path of accumulation and the path of preparation are the cause, and the ultimate path is the result. Second, the individual aspects

Zhag la. The first of the five is the path of accumulation, the basis of which is the morality of ordinary beings, that is, the mind of abandoning evil deeds, and the method of purifying it, that is, closing the doors of the senses such as the eyes. Even if the eyes see things, they should be completely grasped by mindfulness and awareness, and greed and anger should not arise for the beauty or ugliness of things. Knowing the amount of food is to digest and do good, and to eat only to maintain the body. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: "Knowing food as medicine, use it without greed or aversion, not for fatness or pride, nor for beauty but only for survival." Again, as it says therein: "The wise one, day and night, does not sleep in the first and last parts, lest sleep invade, thinking of it as rest." Thus, the night is divided into three parts, and one does not sleep in the first and last parts, but strives for the yoga of tranquility and insight. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "One should protect body and mind in all places at all times, and in short, it is the characteristic of protecting awareness." Thus, one rejoices in always abiding in awareness. In addition, as the cause of liberation, one confesses sins, rejoices in good deeds, and abides in no regret, etc. Similarly, for the Buddha's teachings, whether it is wisdom arising from hearing, or wisdom arising from thinking about its meaning, or wisdom arising from meditating single-mindedly on the meaning of what is thought, in short, by practicing these, one can make one's mind stream realize the truth, and become a vessel capable of liberation from the obstacles of the opposing side. The second is the path of preparation, briefly explaining the common and uncommon points. The morality of ordinary beings above the heat level, etc., whatever is accumulation, those are the preparations. Because it is the near antidote that can counteract afflictions, it is the path of preparation, but because it is not the antidote that matures the continuum, there are also those that are not accumulations, such as accumulating accumulations, the roots of virtue corresponding to the decisive part of the person who has matured the continuum, etc., that is the heat level.
