The place of birth: Those sentient beings who experience the ripening of their own deeds, whether desired or undesired, are also initially without cause, or from self-nature and dominion, etc. The place of birth of karma, which arises from causes that are free from unfavorable factors, because it arises from causes. These arise from entering into the cycle of rebirth. That which arises from cessation, the karma to be relied upon, is the antidote that ultimately destroys the bonds of contaminated karma, for uncontaminated karma is the refuge and protection of all sentient beings. High and low refer to obtaining bodies in good and bad destinies due to differences in what can lead to them. Bad and excellent refer to, within those very destinies, those who possess defects such as ugly appearances and much suffering, and those who possess qualities such as beautiful appearances and enjoyments, due to differences in what completes them. The tenth, explaining the Sutra of Inconceivable Karma, is about what is said to be inconceivable karma. Since it is not inconceivable in every way, how is it conceivable and inconceivable? In this regard, the ripening of good karma, which brings about desires among gods and humans, is conceivable, because good results arise from good causes, which is the nature of things. The ripening of non-virtuous karma, experiencing the undesired in hells and other lower realms, is inconceivable, because it contradicts the previous reasoning. These should also be contemplated, because they lead to qualities such as right view. The various differences in the body color and shape of sentient beings, and that this and these differences were caused by this and this, are inconceivable, because there is no need to investigate them, and no one other than the omniscient one can know them, and because they lead to faults such as confusion. Those virtuous and non-virtuous karmas are also inconceivable due to the various distinctions of place and so on. In this regard, place refers to where in a village or city, etc., that karma was done. Object refers to what was relied upon, whether sentient or non-sentient. Cause refers to the root of virtue or

It is also motivated by any of the three roots of non-virtue. The fully ripened result is the various kinds of bodies themselves. Regarding external objects, the power of karma that causes various things to manifest, such as sharp thorns and round beans, is inconceivable. Similarly, the karma associated with jewels and so on is inconceivable. For example, having jewels is like water appearing from a water crystal, fire appearing from a fire crystal, and so on. Having mantras, for example, by reciting mantras, the body is not burned by fire, and so on. Having medicine, for example, by taking certain medicines, one can become invisible, and so on. The karma of having subjugation practices, for example, taking three pebbles from the confluence of three valleys, then going to a high place and saying, 'May all plagues below the seventh level disappear!' Then, throwing the pebbles into the three valleys, the plague subsides, and so on. The karma of the enlightened abilities of yogis, such as causing the great earth to shake, flying in the sky, and so on, is inconceivable. The karma of the mastery of bodhisattvas from the eighth bhumi onwards is inconceivable. For example, having mastery over life means blessing the activities of life, thereby abiding for the allotted lifespan or even longer. Having mastery over mind means entering various samadhi gates as one wishes. Having mastery over resources means being able to rain down resources such as grain and jewels. Even so, there are five reasons why sentient beings cannot obtain wealth: having the karma of obstacles to obtaining wealth; if they obtain wealth, they become attached to it, thereby obscuring virtue; even if the sorrow of not having wealth manifests, they do not cultivate virtue, and if they obtain wealth, they become arrogant and are not suitable vessels for virtue; if evil people have wealth, they become more powerful, thereby creating greater evil; and because it will cause harm to many people. As it is said in the Compendium of the Great Vehicle: 'Karma and obscurations and manifestation, stinginess and harm, for seeing these, bodhisattvas do not say that sentient beings obtain enjoyment.' It is said like that. Having mastery over karma means transforming karma that should be experienced in the past into ripening as desired, and so on, transforming karma as one wishes. Having mastery over rebirth means with the mind of meditative concentration...

To be born as desired while remaining in one's place. Mastery over aspiration is to transform earth, water, etc., into whatever one desires. Mastery over prayers is to manifestly accomplish countless great prayers that perfectly fulfill the purposes of oneself and others, just as one wishes. Mastery over miraculous powers is to display immeasurable miraculous feats for the sake of taming sentient beings. Mastery over wisdom is to perfectly reach the ultimate end of individually and correctly understanding meaning, dharma, definitive words, and eloquence. Mastery over dharma is to establish various sutras, etc., with different names, words, and letters, according to the thoughts of all sentient beings, so that the minds of sentient beings can be satisfied all at once. The inconceivable activity of accomplishing the deeds of the Buddhas is that the Buddhas, having become one taste in the realm of dharma, without any conceptualization, never waver for even a moment in taming whatever being, at whatever time, in whatever manner. They spontaneously accomplish this as long as samsara exists, which is inconceivable. Thus, after showing the defining characteristic, intending to show the general characteristic of the truth of the origin, they spoke of "the characteristic of the cause," and so on. Therein, the previously mentioned actions and afflictions are called causes because they are the cause of planting the seeds for rebirth in samsara. The accumulation of compatible seeds of rebirth by sentient beings, and the fact that these are the cause of the nature and appearance of sentient beings appearing universally similar in the various realms such as the gods, is why it is called the origin. It is called birth because it is the cause of the different realms and grounds appearing differently for each sentient being, with their different continuums, and the different types of migrations, births, and abodes, from the desire realm up to the peak of existence. It should be understood as the characteristic of a condition because it is the cause of obtaining other bodies that have not been obtained, and of the destruction of bodies that have already been obtained. Having shown the truth of the origin that is to be abandoned, intending to show the truth of cessation that is to be realized, they spoke of "What is the truth of cessation?" This is also the characteristic.
