The four defeats and one hundred and twelve transgressions, the five categories of offenses are divided into two hundred and fifty-three types, and including the summarized transgressions, etc., taking vows to abandon all actions of body and speech. The vows of a Bhikshuni are, that arises in the continuum of a woman. The vows of a Bhikshu have four branches, namely, the branch of complete antidote, and the branch of truly taking the basis of training in accordance with it, and the branch of following the minds of others, and the branch of following the training that has been truly taken. Among them, the request and the basic activities and how to take the general outline of the training, is the first branch. After that, in the Pratimoksha, in accordance with the discipline of the Bhikshu, and contemplating and practicing all the training in accordance with it, is the second branch. The ritual that possesses those two branches is the third branch of perfect conduct. Among them, even a small offense is seen as terrifying, not creating offenses, and for the sake of returning from offenses, truly taking the training, learning is the fourth branch. The vows of a Bhikshuni are because of many afflictions, in order to gradually become a Bhikshuni. On top of the abandonment of a Shramanerika, not walking alone on the road, not swimming across the river, not touching a man, not sitting with him, not concealing offenses, not doing pleasing things, these are the six dharmas of a Bhikshuni, as it is said. Taking Salih fruit, shaving the hair of the secret place, digging the earth, not cutting green grass, etc., not eating what is not given, not eating stored things, thus it is called prohibition, similarly the other, the following dharma is declared as six types. As taught in the Garland Sutra, one should learn. The vows of a Shramanera are: Whoever kills, steals the property of others, engages in unchaste conduct, lies, and adulterated alcohol, etc., dancing, garlands, etc., high and large beds, and afternoon food, both gold and silver are abandoned, the discipline that conquers the enemy of afflictions, is a Shramanera.

“Accumulated by ascetic water wheels,” etc., this is abandoning the ten things to be abandoned. The vows of a female novice are that she is born as a woman. These are the vows of ordination, and these are not taken by oneself, but must be taken only from others. If these vows of ordination could be taken by oneself, then even those who are not suitable for ordination would become ordained depending on themselves. These would make the doctrine unstable, and the sacred Dharma and Vinaya would also increase. The vows of a lay devotee are: the eight vows of a lay devotee, "As long as I live, I will not kill, steal, commit adultery, lie, or drink alcohol," thus abandoning the five things to be abandoned. The vows of a female lay devotee are: she is born as a female body. The vows of a lay devotee are also summarized by three branches, namely: abandoning things that harm others is the branch of truly receiving; the branch of restoring what has been lost from truly receiving; and the branch of not losing from truly receiving. Among them, abandoning harm to the lives, possessions, and wives of others is the first branch. Abandoning lying is the second branch. Abandoning alcohol and prepared alcohol, as well as mixed alcohol, and places of carelessness, is the third branch. The vows of the eight precepts are, as stated in the Letter to a Friend: "Do not harm, do not engage in sexual activity, do not steal, do not lie, do not drink शराब (藏文:ཆང་།,梵文天城体:शराब,梵文罗马音:śarāba,汉语字面意思:酒), do not eat at improper times, do not delight in high and large beds, songs, dances, and ornaments. Abandoning these eight branches of an Arhat, following the precepts is fasting." Thus, abandoning the eight things to be abandoned. It is also summarized by five branches, namely: abandoning things that harm others is the branch of truly receiving; abandoning things that harm oneself and others is the branch of truly receiving; the branch of restoring what has been lost from truly receiving; in order to not lose from truly receiving, the branch of establishing mindfulness; and the branch of not making mindfulness confused. Among them, abandoning harm to the lives and possessions of others is the first branch. Abandoning non-celibacy is the second branch, that is, abandoning one's own wife.
