If one generates such an action with the thought, "I will possess great merit," that arises from ignorance. Both of these are included in the category of attachment, and thus attachment brings them to completion. If one speaks falsely for the sake of some material gain, good reputation, comfort, etc., that is a combination with attachment. If one speaks falsely based on a universally tormented state of mind, that is a combination with hatred. If one speaks thinking it is in accordance with the Dharma for the sake of the lama and offerings, etc., that is a combination with ignorance. At the time of speaking falsely, whichever of the three manifest afflictions is present will bring it to its ultimate completion. Slander should be understood in the same way. As for idle talk, if one speaks for the sake of praise, happiness, wealth, etc., that arises from attachment. If one speaks based on a universally tormented state of mind, that arises from hatred. If one thinks and speaks that it is for the purpose of the Dharma, one should know that it arises from ignorance. Wrong view is, if one thinks that kings, etc., will show reverence, etc., and denies giving, or thinks that there are no offerings, etc., that is a combination with attachment. If, because my enemy has giving, has offerings, etc., one thinks that holding the same view as the enemy is not my way, and therefore thinks that there is no giving, etc., that is a combination with hatred. If, with a thought arising from illogical reasoning, one thinks about the Dharma in an improper way and makes incorrect assessments of others, and thus holds such a view, that can be said to arise from ignorance. All of these are completed by ignorance, because if one were not deluded, one would not develop any wrong views. The fourth aspect, explaining these from various different perspectives, includes explaining them in ten ways, namely, by way of the basis and capacity, by way of results being the same or different, permitted or prohibited, and the three ways of considering whether or not they are indicative actions, from the aspect of the nature of the result, from the aspect of the time of experiencing the result, from the aspect of nature and complete ripening, the karma of giving, the karma of ethics, the sutra on the conduct of beings arising from karma, and the explanation of the sutra on the inconceivable karma. The first aspect, what is to be explained is that karma is also called common karma, etc. The explanation of that is: common karma is any

It is the formation of the vessel world, because its result is commonly enjoyed by all sentient beings. The uncommon one is the formation of the individual worlds of sentient beings, because its fully ripened result is experienced individually. Moreover, to show that there is also a common result of dominion, there are also actions that arise from sentient beings dominating each other, just as it is impossible not to be intimate with other sentient beings, such as looking at each other. Therefore, the sutra says that sentient beings arise from dominating each other. Regarding having power, having power from the aspect of self-nature is the powerful antidote, the transcendental path, and the cultivation of the conventional Bodhicitta that cherishes others over oneself, etc. Whatever actions are intentional by the noble ones, it is because the powerful antidote, the ultimate and conventional Bodhicitta, generates power and weakens the ability. The action by which sentient beings will experience hell, in this very life they will experience it only as a disease, and what is experienced in this very life will not be experienced forever. For example, like the daughter of a mother-in-law kicking the head of her mother-in-law, by that very action, the short-lived sentient being falls into hell, and by generating the Bodhicitta that cherishes others over oneself, they are liberated. The reason is that all actions arising from the antidote and intentional virtuous actions are more powerful than the unfavorable and non-virtuous actions. Considering that actions arising from the antidote have power, the noble Hearers cultivate the reality of truth extremely, with immeasurable antidotes being vast, or the ability having power, no matter how much ripens, the action limited to this extent will not lead the noble one to the lower realms. This action will not cause the noble one to abide by the power of karma, this action will not cause the noble one to be born in a certain lower realm by its power, it will not be counted in this way, so it is said. Furthermore, for those with weak antidotes who do not have the power to destroy unfavorable factors, intentional non-virtue is more powerful than virtue.
