is complete liberation, because it surpasses all liberations. These three unsurpassed states are mastered sequentially by the paths of seeing, cultivation, and no-more-learning. What is abandoned from what is a summary of ascertainment. When a yogi abandons afflictions, at that time, is it abandoning the fully afflicted, or is it abandoning the latent tendencies? From what abandonment is it said to be abandoned? It is abandoned from the latent tendencies, because the fully afflicted is already abandoned from the beginning. Abandoning the latent tendencies is called abandonment. Why is that? If one abandons from the fully afflicted but not from the latent tendencies, then the fully afflicted will arise again and again. But if one abandons from the latent tendencies, then both the latent tendencies and the fully afflicted will never arise again. As it is said, this should also be understood here. Like this, from what is abandoned, manifest or latent? It is not abandoned from the manifest, because the past afflictions have already ceased, and because they have already been abandoned, there is nothing to abandon from them. The future afflictions, because they have not yet arisen and have no form, there is nothing to abandon from them either. The afflictions that arise in the present do not last longer than a moment, so the action of the antidote cannot enter. Furthermore, the mind with latent tendencies and the mind without latent tendencies do not exist together, so they do not enter simultaneously with the path. Therefore, the afflictions that arise in the present are also not abandoned. However, from other sounds and proper attention, the mind of the antidote to afflictions, which is endowed with correct view, arises, and the mind with latent tendencies ceases. Therefore, it is abandoned from the bad place of afflictions. Thus, the aspect of the bad place to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of cultivation, with what antidote, is it a mundane or supramundane antidote? The arising of that antidote aspect and the cessation of the bad place aspect, which is not in accordance with it, are simultaneous, just as the arising of light and the cessation of darkness are simultaneous. What is the meaning of abandonment? For the mind in which the antidote has arisen, in the future, that aspect of affliction will never arise.

Because of abiding in the Dharma, it is the meaning of abandoning what is to be abandoned by the antidote, because it is free from the form of negative karma, the cause of rebirth. Among these, worldly antidotes can only temporarily prevent afflictions from manifesting, but cannot destroy latent tendencies, because if one is separated from that antidote, afflictions will arise again. For example, seeds soaked in sesame oil etc. will not sprout for a while, but once they lose the power of sesame oil, they can sprout again. However, the transcendental path makes it impossible for the mind-stream that has arisen in one's own continuum to produce the very affliction that is to be abandoned, therefore it is called abandoning latent tendencies, just like burning seeds with fire. The origin of afflictions has been explained. Next, wanting to explain the origin of karma, it is said, what is karma? In this regard, it is briefly explained by two and five, and these two are explained in detail, and determined by the meaning of the sutra, and these are explained in various ways. First, in the sutra it says: 'Monks, thought is also karma, intention is also karma.' Like this, thought and intention are the two karmas. All karmas are included in these two, therefore this is a brief summary of the nature of karma. Also, karma has five forms, namely: the karma of object, which refers to the objectification of form etc. by the eye etc.; the karma of action, which refers to the earth having the function of support and water having the function of aggregation; the karma of effort, which refers to first having an idea and then engaging in the activities of body and speech; the karma of transformation, which refers to transforming gold into ornaments etc. with gold ore etc.; the karma of attainment, which refers to attaining Nirvana by the transcendental path, and attaining worldly detachment by meditation etc. In this context of explaining the truth of origin, it is mostly considered to be the karma of effort, because the karma of thought and intention is the main one. Because virtuous karma can obtain desired things etc., and because it holds its own nature, there are also karmas of action and attainment. Second, explaining these two in detail, the first of which is the essence of the karma of thought, which is all the virtuous or non-virtuous karmas of body and speech.

The motivation at the time of the cause that initiates is the manifest action of the mind, which is the karma of the mind. The divisions are three, such as merit, and their nature will be explained. Secondly, the nature of karma born of thought is the mind of the motivation at that time of the karma of the three gates of virtue and non-virtue. What is their nature like? It has already been explained when demonstrating the characteristics of non-manifestation. The divisions are three, such as the karma of the body. Each of those karmas of the body and so on also becomes two, virtuous and non-virtuous. Among them, non-virtue also has three aspects: preparation, the actual deed, and the conclusion. The rough outline of the main part is the ten paths of non-virtuous actions, such as killing. Among them, killing and the like are the three forms of physical manifestation, and the minds that engage with them are the paths of action of killing and the like, because they have become the essence of action and lead to bad migrations. Lying and the like are the forms of verbal manifestation, and the minds that engage with them are established as the path of action of lying and so on. The minds that engage with covetousness and the like are also the path of action of that and that. Among them, the physical and verbal manifestations of the seven actions of body and speech are the characteristics of killing and the like, and lying and the like, but they are the designations of that and that path of action. The minds that engage with them are merely labeled with the term 'killing' and so on, because they connect the actions of body and speech, such as killing and not taking what is given, to that and that, and the path of action of killing and so on is real. Virtue also has three aspects: preparation, the actual deed, and the conclusion. The rough outline of the main part is the ten paths of virtuous action. What are they? They are abandoning killing and so on. Among them, abandoning killing and the like are the three forms of physical manifestation, and the mind that engages with it is that and
