When the feeling of calmness is utilized by meditative concentration, it benefits the body, including the senses, and is therefore happiness. Because joy benefits the mind, it is called mental happiness. The four views other than wrong view are also the same as pride. Wrong view is when those who do evil in desire see that there are no negative consequences for their evil deeds and are happy, therefore they possess mental happiness; and those who do good see that doing good is meaningless and are unhappy, therefore they possess mental unhappiness; when both cease, they possess equanimity. In the form and formless realms, they are the same as whatever feeling is in the mental sphere. Doubt is in the mental sphere, and because it is not settled, joy does not arise, so in desire it possesses mental unhappiness and equanimity, and beyond that it is the same as whatever feeling there is. Mixed ignorance is the same as all other afflictions, so in whatever realm or sphere any of the five feelings are present, it is the same as that. Ignorance that is not mixed with other afflictions, that is, ignorance other than mental affliction, in the desire realm, due to ignorance of the truth, it does not rejoice in the correct Dharma, therefore it possesses mental unhappiness, and at cessation it is the same as equanimity. In the higher realms above that, it is the same as whatever feeling is in the mental sphere. Why are all afflictions the same as the feeling of equanimity? Because when afflictions are accompanied by clear feelings such as pleasure and pain, they do not cease due to their strength; but when the feeling is in a normal state of equanimity, they disappear. With what consciousness are they associated? Attachment, anger, and ignorance are all associated with all six consciousnesses in the desire realm. In the form realm, they are associated with four consciousnesses, except for nose and tongue consciousness. In the formless realm, they are only associated with mind consciousness, because there are no five consciousnesses. Pride, views, and doubt are always associated only with mind consciousness, because they arise in the manner of measuring and fully understanding, and

Because the first kind of consciousness aggregate cannot be measured by relying on material objects, etc. In which realm, the way to enter into each aspect and all aspects of the basis is that attachment, anger, and pride, these three, in the desire realm, enter into one aspect of the object of the object, entering into things that are pleasing and unpleasing, and because they are filled with any kind of lineage, etc. It is the same in the form and formless realms. The remaining ignorance, views, and doubt enter into all objects in all realms, because they are focused on all bases. The two divisions of lineage are that there are two kinds of afflictions: those that can be destroyed simply by seeing the true reality of truth, which are to be abandoned by seeing; and those that, even after having seen the truth, are destroyed by repeatedly familiarizing themselves with it, which are to be abandoned by meditation. Separately, in terms of their respective meanings, what is to be abandoned by seeing is that in the desire realm, for the reality of each of the four truths, such as suffering, there are ten afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, a total of forty. In the form and formless realms, there are nine kinds of abandoning anger, and through the difference of the four truths, there are thirty-six kinds each, a total of two sets. Thus, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are one hundred and twelve. This is assuming that all ten afflictions have wrongly entered into all truths. Alternatively, understand according to what is said in the Compendium of Determinations, as it says: 'Here, for the truth of suffering acting in the desire realm, it should be considered that all ten afflictions have wrongly entered. For the truth of origin, eight, excluding the view of the perishable collection and the view of holding to extremes, have wrongly entered. Just as for the truth of origin, so too for the truth of cessation and the truth of the path. For the upper realms, except for anger in all truths, the rest enter wrongly in the same way as in the desire realm, and should be understood in order.' The reason for establishing two inconsistent statements is because it is assumed that all afflictions are abandoned by seeing the reality of all truths, so all afflictions are
