If asked, isn't this a distorted understanding? No, it is not. Because it is due to clinging to the aggregates as self, therefore it is distorted towards the aggregates, not towards sentient beings. Because the object of clinging here is not sentient beings. Pride is because the object of clinging is sentient beings, and clinging to great views and superiority, etc., therefore it will be distorted towards these. The two kinds of clinging to superiority are because of clinging to views as superior and pure liberation, etc., therefore it is a distorted understanding towards them. Doubt is distorted towards the antidote, because it gives rise to two kinds of hesitation towards the truths. Ignorance is a distorted understanding towards all objects and views, etc., because it is associated with all afflictions. The general distortion is that all ten afflictions are the cause of suffering and origin. The arising of karma is caused by these ten afflictions in a direct and indirect way. Afflictions arise from the previous causes to the later ones. Suffering is the result of afflictions. Suffering and origin are also the basis of these ten afflictions, because they also arise from the contaminated actions, becoming part of the cause and effect. Therefore, for suffering and origin, all afflictions are also distorted by their cause and basis. Due to the power of afflictions, one will be very happy with samsara, and because of the fear of the pure aspects contained in cessation and the path, which are incompatible with this, as a cliff, and distorted understanding. Therefore, all ten afflictions are distorted because they give rise to fear of the path of cessation. Non-Buddhists say, for example: Snowflakes, saffron flowers, curd, milky white, pearl color, like the shape of holding an umbrella, the Buddha said this is liberation. Like this, distorting the understanding by falsely establishing liberation and the method of liberation as other forms. Which realm exists in and which does not? Except for anger, all other afflictions exist in all three realms, while anger only exists in the desire realm, not in the upper two realms, because the continuum is suppressed by tranquility, and

Because there is no object of suffering from that. Where does feeling correspond? Desire is in the desire realm, those who are associated with the five aggregates of consciousness are associated with pleasure. Those who are associated with the aggregate of consciousness are associated with mental pleasure, but not with pleasure, because there is no pleasure of the place of mind in the desire realm. Both are associated with equanimity when the continuum is cut off. Because of the arising of joy, suffering and mental unhappiness will never occur. The first and second dhyanas are also the same. The difference is that in those dhyanas, the places of the three consciousnesses are only associated with physical pleasure, while the consciousness together with its retinue are associated with both the pleasure of the place of mind and mental pleasure. In the third dhyana, because of being free from attachment to joy, there is no mental pleasure, therefore, it is associated with pleasure, and when that ceases, it is associated with equanimity. Above that, because of being free from attachment to pleasure, it is only associated with equanimity. Anger is that the retinues of the five consciousnesses are suffering, and the retinues of consciousness are mental unhappiness, and when both cease, they are associated with equanimity, but not with pleasure and mental pleasure, because of the arising of displeasure. Pride is in the desire realm associated with mental pleasure, and with equanimity when it ceases, because of the arising of joy, it is not mental unhappiness, because it is the place of mind, it is not pleasure. In the first and second dhyanas, because there is pleasure of the place of mind, it is also associated with pleasure. In the third dhyana, it is associated with both the pleasure of the place of mind and equanimity. Above that, it is only associated with equanimity. What is called the pleasure of the place of mind? It is the tranquility of the feeling of the retinue of consciousness, which makes the body with the senses tranquil and beneficial. For this, in the desire realm, because there is no samadhi, the tranquility of the feeling of the retinue of consciousness, whatever it is, cannot benefit the body with the senses. Therefore, that is not called the pleasure of the place of mind. When samadhi is attained, the retinue of consciousness
