Appearances are enumerated as one, and so on. The consciousness of objects appears as towns and monasteries, and so on. The consciousness of terms is seeing, hearing, distinguishing, and knowing. The consciousness of self and other is the distinction of grasping at the body, etc., as "This is mine," and "This is another's." The consciousnesses of happy migrations, unhappy migrations, death, transmigration, and birth appear as gods, humans, sentient beings in hell, animals, hungry ghosts, birth, and death. These consciousnesses arise from three kinds of habitual tendencies. That is, whatever consciousnesses there are from the consciousness of body, embodied being, and eater up to the consciousness of terms arise from the habitual tendency of expression. The consciousness of self and other arises from the habitual tendency of viewing as self. Whatever consciousnesses there are from happy migrations up to birth arise from the habitual tendency of the limb of existence. Of these, the consciousness of body and embodied being is the six internal elements. The consciousness that is closely practiced by it is the six external elements. Of these, the consciousness of what is closely practiced and the eater is the six elements of consciousness. The remaining consciousnesses should be understood as the various distinctions of these. Moreover, the consciousness of time and number is included in the consciousness of eating. The consciousness of objects and terms is included in the consciousness of what is to be closely practiced by it. The consciousness of self and other is included in the consciousness of embodied being. The four consciousnesses of happy migrations, etc., are included in the consciousness of body. Are these consciousnesses included or not included in the eight consciousnesses? It should be regarded as included. How so? Of these, the ālaya-consciousness is regarded as including the consciousness of body and the consciousness of what is to be closely practiced by it. The afflicted mind is the consciousness of embodied being. The mind-consciousness is the consciousness of the eater. The sense-consciousness is the consciousness of what is closely practiced by it. The remainder are those five consciousnesses.

Because it is special, it should be understood as being summarized in an appropriate way. Furthermore, as stated in the "Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes": "Objects, sentient beings, and self, are the types from which the appearance of consciousness arises." As such, four kinds of consciousness are taught: appearing as objects, appearing as sentient beings, appearing as self, and appearing as consciousness. Among these, appearing as objects refers to the fact that the alaya-consciousness itself appears as objects such as forms and sounds. Appearing as sentient beings refers to the fact that the alaya itself appears as the five faculties such as the eyes of oneself and others. These two are the alaya-consciousness. Appearing as self is the afflicted mind. Appearing as consciousness is the collection of the six consciousnesses. If these four consciousnesses are elaborated, they will transform into various consciousnesses such as the body and the embodied. If they are briefly summarized, they still become these four, so they should be regarded as mutually inclusive. In this way, all unreal pervasive conceptualizations are included in the previously mentioned consciousnesses, and all those consciousnesses are called the nature of other-dependence. The meaning of these can be summarized as: as stated in the "Thirty Verses": "The nature of other-dependence is conceptualization, arising from conditions." So, what is the nature of the completely imputed? As mentioned before, on the apprehended aspect of other-dependence, it is fabricated by conceptual thought as persons and phenomena, and in name, it is the object of children's consciousness, but it cannot be established by rational analysis, so it does not exist at all in the nature of substance. As stated in the same text: "Whatever is conceptualized by whatever conceptualization, whatever entity is conceptualized, that is the nature of the completely imputed, and it is said that this nature does not exist." So, how does the conceptualizer conceptualize the object to be conceptualized, and in what way? It is the mind-consciousness that conceptualizes, because other consciousnesses are not conceptual, so they do not conceptualize. That mind-consciousness arises from the seeds of its own expressible habitual tendencies, and other consciousnesses
