Whatever arises, you consider to be emptiness. Thus it is said. Apart from these three, they do not at all accept that the basis of emptiness, which is established as truly existent, is called emptiness that negates the conventional. As it is said in the Root Wisdom: If there is a little that is not empty, there will be a little emptiness. If there is not a little that is not empty, where will there be emptiness? Thus it is said that because the basis of emptiness is not established, emptiness is also not established. Again, as it says in the same text: The emptiness of the Victorious Ones, is said to dispel all views. Those who hold the view of emptiness, are said to be incurable. Thus it is said that those who grasp emptiness as truly existent are those who have incurable views. If it is said that the collections of reasoning were not spoken merely to show self-emptiness, but in the Praise of Dharmadhatu it says: Whoever does not fully know, constantly revolves in the three realms, constantly dwells in all sentient beings, to the Dharmadhatu I prostrate. Whoever is the cause of samsara, after that is purified, that purity is nirvana, the Dharmakaya is also that. And so on, to show the ultimate truth of other-emptiness. Then, that very text says that the nature of mind, luminosity, is samsara when it is conventionally defiled by afflictions, and by meditating on the path, purifying the temporary defiled dharmas, it becomes nirvana and Dharmakaya. Just as a lamp inside a vase, will not slightly appear bright, similarly inside the vase of afflictions, the Dharmadhatu is not seen. It only shows through many examples, but there is not a single word showing that the Thusness that is empty of conventionality is permanent, stable, and truly existent. Moreover, in the Praise of Reality and the Praise of the Transcendent, and other texts, like the collections of reasoning, they stop all extremes of elaboration. Therefore, this system of speaking of other-emptiness is outside the system of the noble Nagarjuna. This should be understood. The emptiness that arises from the teachings of Maitreya and the treatises of the brothers Asanga and Vasubandhu is of three types:

Thus, emptiness by its own nature, as well as emptiness of non-existence, and emptiness of own-being. The first is, the nature of the completely imputed; the second is, the nature of the dependent arising; the third is, the nature of the thoroughly established, which has been explained before and will be explained again. As it is said in the Differentiation of the Middle and the Extremes: 'Non-reality of that non-reality, is said to be empty by its own nature.' And as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Knowing the emptiness of non-existence, likewise knowing the emptiness of non-existence, having known the emptiness of own-being, it is said to have known emptiness.' And sixteen emptinesses such as inner emptiness are also taught, such as: 'The body of the eater and the eaten, the emptiness of the basis of the place. How is that seen by whom? Why is that also emptiness? In order to obtain the two virtues, and always for the benefit of sentient beings, in order not to abandon samsara, and also in order to purify the lineage, in order to obtain the marks and signs, in order to purify the Buddha's teachings, one practices the bodhisattva conduct. The emptiness here is the absence of things of persons and phenomena. That which is real of the unreal, that is another emptiness for that.' Thus it is said. Among them, the first fourteen are distinguished by the difference of the object of dharma, and the latter two are distinguished from the own nature of emptiness. In general, emptiness is the dependent arising, the true imputation, which is the emptiness of the completely imputed on persons and phenomena. Among them, there are two types: affirmative negation and non-affirmative negation. The non-affirmative negation that prevents the object to be negated, the completely imputed, is merely a determination, which is the emptiness of non-things. The object of negation that is distinguished by it is non-affirmative negation. That itself is called the emptiness of the nature of non-things, which is the nominally established perfect reality and is the nature of dependent arising. Inner emptiness is the consciousness that appears as the six inner sense sources of the eater, which is the nature of the completely imputed on persons and phenomena, the non-affirmative negation and non-affirmative negation that have not been established from the beginning, and this way of emptiness also applies to others. Outer emptiness is the consciousness that appears as the six outer sense sources of the eaten.
