Furthermore, it is said that the minds of all sentient beings are entirely the wisdom of the Tathagata, obscured by consciousness. The Buddha generates great compassion and teaches the abandonment of consciousness. Having fully understood consciousness, one draws near to the Buddha's sons. Such as these, without further citing scriptural sources of knowledge. Moreover, that (referring to the Tathagatagarbha) is permanent, stable, enduring, and of an unchanging nature, pure, blissful, and having reached the other shore of true self. This suchness emptiness ultimate truth is also clearly proclaimed in sutras such as the 'Noble King of Dharani Empowerment Sutra,' the 'Sutra of the Chapter on Explaining Higher Intentions,' the 'Glorious Lion's Roar Sutra,' the 'Tathagatagarbha Sutra,' the 'Buddha Avatamsaka Sutra,' the 'Sutra of No Increase and Decrease,' the 'Great Drum Sutra,' the 'Sutra of the Ornament of Wisdom Light,' the 'Sutra Requested by Jewel Crest,' the 'Angulimala Sutra,' the 'Great Nirvana Sutra,' and other definitive sutras of the final teachings. The commentaries on these sutras, such as the latter four of the Five Treatises of Maitreya, including the 'Mahayana Sutra Ornament,' as well as the treatises of the brothers Asanga and Vasubandhu, and the collections of praises such as the 'Madhyamaka Dharmadhatu Praise' of the noble Nagarjuna, have clearly explained them. Therefore, the conventional truth is empty of its own nature, and also, these (conventional truths) are not established from the beginning in the ultimate truth of dharmata, so they are liberated from the extreme of permanence. The perfected nature of dharmata, because it is not something that never exists, is established as true, permanent, etc., from the beginning, so it does not fall into the extreme of annihilation. Therefore, this is the great Middle Way that is free from extremes. As it is said: 'That on which something is not, is rightly seen as empty of that; whatever remains on this, is present here.' Thus, one fully understands as it is. This is the correct entry into emptiness, not a perverted one. Considering this, the Bhagavan said: 'The existent is also rightly known as existent, and the non-existent is also rightly known as non-existent,' and so on. Therefore, this system is taught by the sutras of definitive meaning.

That which is explained by the great chariots, practiced by the accomplished yogis, is the supreme essence of the teachings. However, those who merely cling to self-emptiness say that they do not truly understand the meaning of emptiness, the essence of the teachings. For example, like a bat among a hundred birds, they clearly turn their backs on the correct view established by the great chariots of China and Tibet. The great founders of the chariots, such as the noble Nagarjuna and the noble Asanga, whose treatises, like the disc of the sun, explain the meaning of the Sugata's scriptures without any inversion, even though they are merely books, have become like a setting sun because there are no individuals who fully understand their ultimate intent. Due to incorrect views and the accumulation of negative karma from many lifetimes, some foolish individuals who have not become vessels for the profound teachings and who have been blessed by demonic spirits, arbitrarily tamper with the meaning of the profound sutras of the teachings with various ideas. The darkness of the evil view of clinging to the extremes of permanence and annihilation, which arises from the power of the teachings, becomes thick like night. In this age, they rise up from various directions like moths, repeatedly proclaiming the evil view of the self of the Samkhya school under the guise of the Sugata's essence, thereby spreading the evil omen of a great drought that cuts off the life force for many unfortunate beings to attain liberation and omniscience. This is not the intent of any sutra of the Great or Lesser Vehicle, nor does it accord with any of the four philosophical schools, nor is it the view of any of the great chariots of China and Tibet. Therefore, it is entirely an outsider's dharma. Therefore, all those who cherish the Buddha's teachings should refute it. Here, I will also speak briefly in summary. Among them, the Vaibhashikas and Sautrantikas believe that emptiness refers only to the emptiness of the self of a person. Moreover, as the term states: that which is absent in something, that is empty of it.
