It is believed that on the basis of selflessness distinguished by "I" and "mine," only aggregates and dharmas that are empty of it are established, and that it is the nature of impermanence, suffering, etc. However, emptiness distinguished by permanence, etc., is not recognized at all. Therefore, the former view is also proven not to be the view of the Hinayana sutras. There are two authoritative persons who explain the views of the Mahayana sutras: the noble Nagarjuna and the noble Asanga. These two are authoritative persons because the Bhagavan prophesied that they would spread the Mahayana teachings widely in this Jambudvipa. Among them, the noble Nagarjuna mainly explained the profound meaning of the essence of the teachings, while the noble Asanga mainly explained the vast meaning of the categories of the teachings. The followers of the former (Nagarjuna) are called "those who speak of no self-nature," and the followers of the latter (Asanga) are called "the Mind-Only school." This is well known among the great chariots of Tibet and China, and the views of those treatises also seem to be the same. As the great translator Yeshe De's notes on views say: "If asked, what are the views of the two Madhyamaka schools? When the previous Acharya Nagarjuna and Aryadeva wrote the Madhyamaka treatises, they were not divided into two. Later, Acharya Asanga and Vasubandhu wrote the Mind-Only treatises, proving that external objects do not exist, and only consciousness appears as objects, and they said that the non-duality of all consciousnesses is the ultimate truth. Later, a Madhyamika master, Bhaviveka, who had the oral instructions of the Nagarjuna tradition and had attained accomplishment, refuted the Mind-Only school," and so on. Similarly, in the treatises of the teacher Lekdenjye and the glorious Chandrakirti, the views of the Asanga brothers are also classified as Mind-Only and refuted. Furthermore, the emptiness that arises from the treatises of the noble Nagarjuna.

There are two kinds of emptiness: emptiness analyzed by reason and emptiness realized by yogis individually through their own self-aware wisdom. The first is further divided into the emptiness of the self of a person and the emptiness of phenomena. The first is that, for the time being, with regard to the aggregates, realms, and sources, the nature of the enjoyer of objects, such as the person, self, and individual posited by worldly people and outsiders, is blocked, and it is established that it is only a dharma in the aggregates. As it is said in the Sutra, in the "Praise of the Transcendent," it says, "You believe that there is liberation only from the aggregates, and no sentient beings." The second is that, with regard to the internal and external aggregates, realms, and sources, all the permanent and impermanent, self and no-self, arising and non-arising, etc., posited by proponents of their own and others' tenets are blocked, and it is shown that they are merely like an illusion of dependent arising. As it says in the same text, "The wise one, you have shown to the wise that those aggregates are like illusions, mirages, cities of gandharvas, and dreams." And in the Root Wisdom, it says, "Like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, thus is birth, thus is destruction, thus it is said to abide." And so on, many things are said. These are called nominal emptiness because they are merely established as empty after being analyzed by the wisdom of hearing and thinking that follows reason. The noble ones realize it in an inexpressible way with their own self-aware wisdom. What is called emptiness, the ultimate truth, is merely a nominal designation, and it cannot be expressed in words in any extreme of elaboration, such as existence or non-existence, permanence or annihilation, emptiness or non-emptiness. It is something that transcends the realm of all terms. As it is said in the Root Wisdom, "Emptiness can also be said, non-emptiness should not be said, neither both nor neither should be said, but it is said for the sake of designation." Suchness, emptiness, is also the nature of this illusion-like dependent arising that appears, and there is nothing at all established separately from it. As it says in the "Praise of the Transcendent": Dependently
