Then darkness arose, and phenomena such as the sun, moon, and stars appeared in the world. Among them, the measure of the sun's disc is fifty-one yojanas. The measure of the moon's disc is fifty yojanas. The sun is of the nature of fire essence, and the moon is of the nature of water essence. Among these two, the moon's disc moves very quickly, and it should be known that it moves impermanently. The sun's disc illuminates two continents simultaneously, and also makes two continents fall into darkness simultaneously. Therefore, in one continent it is midday, and in the other continent it is sunrise. In one continent it is midnight, and in the other continent it is sunset. All the sun, moon, and stars move and travel from the middle of Mount Sumeru, just like a yoke. When they travel far from Mount Sumeru, they appear as winter; when they are close, they appear as summer. Therefore, it should be known that they set quickly and set from afar. When the moon's disc tilts slightly upwards, it appears as a crescent moon, because its other side is obscured by this side, so it is not visible; the more it tilts, the more it appears to be full. It appears like the surface of ghee tilting downwards. In the great ocean, because the images of creatures such as fish and turtles appear, it seems that there is Rahu. The measure of the stars, the large ones are eighteen yojanas, the medium ones are ten yojanas, and the small ones are four yojanas. How are yojana and calling distance distinguished? As it is said: Form name time limit dust and letter, kshana minute dust and, dust aggregate and likewise, iron water rabbit sheep and cow, sunlight dust and heat, arising from that and likewise, finger joint called seven times increased. Twenty-four fingers are an elbow, four elbows are a bow. Those five hundred are called, calling distance, that is called a solitary place. Those eight are called yojana. One should follow what is said to understand. Thus, when the four kinds of human beings appeared in the world, beauty and ugliness

One will always engage in actions that cause one to experience the five realms of existence. Thereafter, any sentient being, through the actions they have accumulated, will be born as Yama, the Lord of Death, in the hell realms. Following that, the wardens of the hell realms will also appear as if by magic. Harm and those who inflict harm, iron, copper, and so forth, as well as the fires of the hell realms, will also arise. Subsequently, according to the course of karma, sentient beings will be born into those and other different realms of existence. In this way, hundreds of billions of the four continents, hundreds of billions of Mount Meru, hundreds of billions of the six desire realms of gods, and the three thousand great thousand worlds of hundreds of billions of Brahma realms will simultaneously form and simultaneously be destroyed. The establishment of the vessel world has been explained. Third, the summary of the meaning: All of what was previously explained, the sentient being world and the vessel world, are entirely the truth of suffering. This is because they are produced in sequence by karma and afflictions, and because they arise from the power of those karmas and afflictions. As it is said in the Avatamsaka Sutra: "Just as various fruits arise from the differences in seeds, so too do beings and fields arise from the differences in karma." Why is it that what is produced by karma and afflictions becomes suffering? Because their results do not go beyond any of the three types of suffering. The sentient being world is the ripened result of karma and afflictions, therefore it is said to be produced by them. The vessel world is merely the result of the power of karma and afflictions, therefore it is said to arise from their power. Second, showing the distinction: Is every world system the truth of suffering? No, it is not. The realms such as Sukhavati (Pure Land of Bliss), which are completely pure, without stumps or thorns, are not the truth of suffering, because those realms are not produced by the karma and afflictions of sentient beings, and so on.

That is why. So, what is the cause of these? These are caused by the power of the aspirations to purify the fields and the accumulation of vast uncontaminated roots of virtue when the Buddhas practiced the conduct of Bodhisattvas in the past. As it is said in the Avatamsaka Sutra: Just as the Dragon King shows clouds in the sky, so the Buddhas, through their aspirations, cause all fields to appear. And: Some fields emit light, with precious essence, stainless, with various forms, extremely pure, adorned by the Buddhas. Like this. So, how are such realms initially formed, exist in the middle, and ultimately destroyed? Since they are accomplished by aspirations and vast roots of virtue, these pure lands, which are the places where only completely pure sentient beings are born, the way these pure lands are formed and destroyed is inconceivable to beings like us. Even the direct perception of meditators cannot be their object, let alone the logicians who follow reason and are devoted to study and contemplation, it is not an object of study and contemplation, so it cannot be expressed. However, since it is the object of the unobstructed wisdom of the Buddhas, the Buddhas can speak of it, but even if one praises the qualities of these fields for a kalpa or more, it will not be exhausted, because the cause of the manifestation of these fields is the aspirations of the Bodhisattvas and the infinite roots of virtue of purifying the fields. Just a rough description of the qualities and forms of these fields is as described in the sutras such as the Ornament of Manjushri's Field and the Ornament of Akshobhya's Field. Secondly, the explanation of suffering arising from the sutras is divided into four parts, the first part is the eightfold manifestation, which is 'punarjanma duhkham (पुनर्जन्म दुःखम्, rebirth is suffering)', etc., the sutra speaks of eight kinds of suffering. The meaning of 'punarjanma (पुनर्जन्म, rebirth)' is not only birth and the place of birth are suffering.
