The third "three sentences" refers to where only three aspects are shown. For example, if asked: What is the number of aggregates, is the number of sense bases also the same? The answer is "three sentences": There are those that are the number of aggregates but not the number of sense bases, namely the aggregate of form. There are those that are the number of sense bases but not the number of aggregates, namely the dharma sense base. Those that are both are the aggregate of consciousness and the mind sense base. The fourth "four sentences" refers to where four aspects are shown. For example, if asked: Whoever has eyes, also has ears? The answer is "four sentences": The first is that the eyes have arisen and have not deteriorated, but are deaf. The second is that the ears have arisen and have not deteriorated, but are blind. The third is that the eyes and ears have arisen and have not deteriorated. The fourth is those that do not belong to these situations. "Thus it is" refers to, for example, if asked: Whatever is impermanent, is it all conditioned? Whatever is conditioned, is it all impermanent? Then it should be shown to answer "Thus it is". "Abandoning" refers to, for example, if asked: Besides the aggregates, which truth includes the conditioned? The answer is "There is no such thing," this is abandoning. Fourth, the ascertainment of correct questioning is divided into two parts. The ascertainment of questioning with the eight classifications of sound and with classification is "what" and so on. If asked: Who does not observe the agent? The answer is: The Bodhisattva who has attained the Perfection of Wisdom. What is not observed? The answer is: The characteristics of the apprehended and the apprehender. By what is it not observed? The answer is: By the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is it not observed? The answer is: In order to completely protect all sentient beings and to attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. From what is it not observed? The answer is: From making the appearance of the Buddha pleasing, listening to the sacred Dharma, properly applying the mind, and practicing the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma. What is not observed? The answer is: All dharmas. In what is it not observed? The answer is: Abandoning in faith.

From the stage of practice to the tenth stage. How many kinds of non-observation are there? Namely, arising and ceasing, as well as not arising and manifesting, as well as arising from the power of causes, as well as arising from the power of good friends, as well as non-observation of all phenomena, as well as non-observation of emptiness, as well as possessing the pride of "I," as well as not having pride, as well as not accumulating merit and having accumulated merit. These non-observations should be observed in order, by way of past, future, and present, as well as internal and external, as well as coarse and subtle, as well as bad and good, as well as distant and near. Then, it is the same for how to say "what." Namely, what is not observed, and with what and what, and for what, and from what, and of what, and where, and how much is not observed. The method of determination is also, for it, refutation is to state the faults of the other side and eliminate them. Establishing is to say that one's own side is good and to establish "this is good." Cutting off is to give certainty to the doubts that others have or have not arisen. Comprehending is to show that meaning to those who are confused about that meaning. Fifth, the determination of gathering is to gather with the ten stages, the determination of accomplishing activities on the ten stages is to accomplish the methods of mutual survival for worldly people, etc. The determination of entering is to examine that one should enter and place in the three vehicles, etc. The determination of faith is to believe as one has heard with the wisdom born of hearing. The determination of reason is to fully measure the meaning of before and after with the wisdom born of thought. The determination of eloquent speech is to fully enjoy the Dharma in the manner of questioning and returning questions about what has been heard and thought. The determination of thorough realization is the path of seeing, therefore it thoroughly realizes the truth. The determination of complete purification is the path of meditation, therefore it completely purifies all defilements. The determination of manifest accomplishment is the excellent path, therefore it manifests
