Transformation shows the power of each word. For example, in the Sutra of Dependent Arising, it says, "Because this exists, that arises; because this is born, that is born, just like this, with ignorance as the condition, there are actions, etc." The gate of repetition refers to where one grasps a single word of the sutra and extensively shows it. For example, a monk with six qualities can scatter even the king of mountains, the snowy mountain, with the breath of his mouth, let alone ignorance like a corpse. What are these six? Generating the mind, abiding, rising, diminishing, and skillful means. In order, they are the four dhyanas, transforming from the part of decline to the part of abiding, transforming from the part of abiding to the part of distinction, and the two aspects of right abandonment, accomplishment and elimination, and obtaining the four legs of miraculous power. This is like such extensive teachings. The gate of manifest accomplishment refers to where each word is shown with four possibilities, etc. For each of those words of the fourth possibility, etc., there is also manifest accomplishment without end with other four possibilities, etc. For example, in the Sutra of Accomplishing Buddhahood, it says, "These four are the dharmas that completely purify the Bodhi of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, namely, meditating on emptiness, having a mind without hatred towards all sentient beings, constantly closely accomplishing benefit for the Bodhisattvas, and perfectly showing the giving of Dharma with a mind without confusion. If one possesses four dharmas, the Bodhisattva meditates on emptiness, and inwardly the mind does not discriminate, generates the power to thoroughly distinguish faith, realizes all dharmas as they are, and is liberated from all obscurations. If a Bodhisattva possesses four dharmas, he possesses a mind without hatred towards all sentient beings, namely, cultivating loving-kindness, accomplishing without confusion, not discriminating signs, and enduring weariness. If a Bodhisattva possesses four dharmas, he constantly closely accomplishes benefit for the Bodhisattvas, namely, completely measuring oneself, entering into the correct teachings, being happy when associating with them, and offering

And, obtaining, respect, and the accomplishment of service. If one possesses four qualities, a Bodhisattva, with a mind free from defilement, perfectly and excellently demonstrates the giving of Dharma, namely, thoroughly understanding obstacles, being skilled in dispelling ignorance and sinking, accomplishing joy of mind, and delighting in the Dharma that protects. Third, the determination of thoroughly distinguishing and universally showing is: To the Dharmas such as aggregates, etc., as previously stated, combine them with understanding from one, etc., as appropriate. Among them, understanding from one is: By what does one ask about one Dharma in conjunction with each of the remaining Dharmas, abandoning that Dharma, and then asking about the second Dharma in conjunction with the others. For example, does one who possesses the eye sense base also possess the form sense base? Answer: Combine with the previous sentence. Does one who possesses the eye sense base also possess the ear sense base? Answer: Four possibilities. Likewise, combine appropriately between the Dharmas. Similarly, each of the ear, etc., should be examined by combining them with the remaining sense bases. Combining with the previous sentence is when asking based on some two-by-two Dharmas, one relies on the previous Dharma to make a statement. For example, is whatever is consciousness also the object of consciousness? Answer: Combine with the previous sentence, whatever is consciousness is also the object of consciousness. There is an object of consciousness that is not consciousness, namely, those other than that. Combining with the following sentence is when asking in pairs, one relies on what to make a statement. For example, is whatever is grasped also the grasper? Answer: Combine with the following sentence, whatever is the grasper is also the grasped. There is a grasped that is not the grasper, namely, the Dharma sense base excluding the five objects such as form and those that correspond to them. The two possibilities are where two possibilities are shown, because there is no other way besides that. For example, speaking based on the establishment of aggregates or the establishment of elements, is the number of aggregates the same as the number of elements? Answer: Two possibilities. There is a number of aggregates that is not the number of elements, namely, the form aggregate and the consciousness aggregate. There is a number of elements that is not the number of aggregates, namely, the Dharma element.
