Those who are born experience the bliss of peace and liberation. The enjoyment of bliss has been explained. Next, the enjoyment of food is as follows. For example, sentient beings who are born and exist in the three realms maintain and sustain their lives by means of the four kinds of food. Among them, the three kinds of food—tactile sensation, mental intention, and consciousness—enable all sentient beings in the three realms to exist and survive. Coarse food, on the other hand, only enables sentient beings in the desire realm to exist and survive. For sentient beings born in hell, there exists within them a subtle component of coarse food that circulates as wind, and this sustains their existence. Coarse food is crude, and animals and hungry ghosts, etc., cut and consume coarse food. In comparison, the sentient beings who are like tiny worms, and the gods who exist in the desire realm, have a more refined component of coarse food. For example, according to the sutra on eating coarse food, after food is eaten, it spreads throughout all the limbs of the body and is digested, so they do not produce feces or urine. Next, the enjoyment of sexual intercourse is as follows: For the sentient beings in hell, there is absolutely no sexual intercourse. This is because they are experiencing intense suffering, various forms of torment, long periods of time, and ceaseless misery. Therefore, males born there do not develop desire for females, and females do not develop desire for males, let alone engage in mutual union. For animals, hungry ghosts, and humans, there is sexual activity in which physical pleasure and pain are intertwined. These males and females engage in mutual union, and semen is produced. The gods of the desire realm have sexual intercourse, but no semen is produced. When they engage in intercourse, a temporary gust of wind arises from their sexual organs. The Four Great Kings and the Thirty-three Gods eliminate suffering through their mutual union.

Those who embrace, it is merely by embracing each other. The Tushita beings, it is merely by holding each other's hands. The Nirmanarati beings, it is merely by smiling at each other. For the Paranirmitavasavartin beings, merely by looking at each other with eye contact, they become without suffering. Furthermore, in Jambudvipa and the three continents of Purvavideha and Aparagodaniya, there is marrying, giving away a bride, and taking a bride. In Uttarakuru, those beings do not have possession and complete possession, therefore, there is no marrying each other, etc., among them. Just like the three continents, the great powerful pretas and those desire realm gods other than the Nirmanarati and Paranirmitavasavartin are also similar to this. The goddesses of the gods who enjoy in the desire realm do not have a place of womb birth. Therefore, the gods of the Four Great Kings' retinue will appear, having manifested as a five-year-old child, on the shoulders or laps of their father and mother. The Trayastrimsha gods will appear as if they were six years old. The Yama gods will appear as if they were seven years old. The Tushita gods will appear as if they were eight years old. The Nirmanarati gods will appear as if they were nine years old. The Paranirmitavasavartin gods will appear as if they were ten years old, having manifested on the shoulders or laps. The enjoyment of sexual intercourse has been explained. Furthermore, the establishment of the place of birth is as follows: For example, the three kinds of desire realm births. Some beings abide closely in desire, and those who abide closely in desire also have power over freedom, such as all humans and the gods of the Four Great Kings' retinue, up to Tushita, this is the first desire realm birth. Some beings transform desire, and those transformers transform and have power over freedom, such as the gods of Nirmanarati. For those gods of Nirmanarati, the transformation of desire is accomplished for their own sake, but not for others. Therefore, they only have power over freedom through the desires transformed by themselves.

There are also others, such as the gods of Paranirmita-vasavartin, who can manifest for themselves and for others. Therefore, they abide in a state smaller than their own manifestations. The pleasures manifested by others control the power, therefore they are called Paranirmita-vasavartin. They do not rely solely on the pleasures manifested by others, but also on their own manifestations. This is the third kind of desire-born. The three kinds of pleasure-born are: Some sentient beings have their bodies moistened by the joy and pleasure born from seclusion, such as the gods of the first dhyana, this is the first pleasure-born. Some sentient beings have their bodies moistened by the joy and pleasure born from samadhi, such as the gods of the second dhyana, this is the second pleasure-born. Some sentient beings have their bodies moistened by the pleasure without joy, such as the gods of the third dhyana, this is the third pleasure-born. Why distinguish between the three desire-born and pleasure-born? The answer is: because of seeking desire, seeking existence, and seeking brahmacharya. Those who, whether they are shramanas or brahmins, engage in seeking desire, are all for these three desire-born, no more and no less. Those shramanas or brahmins who seek existence for the sake of pleasure are mostly for these three pleasure-born. And those who seek the meaning of the peaceful birth that is neither suffering nor pleasure are even fewer than the fewest in the world. Therefore, births are not distinguished before this. Those shramanas or brahmins who engage in seeking brahmacharya are all for the sake of the undefiled realm. There are also some who, with wrong views, completely fabricate the meaning of immovability, as well as the meaning of the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, with wrong
