It should be realized that this is the wisdom of patience. After that, if there is no clinging to dependence, it should be realized that there is also no clinging to that dependence, which is the wisdom of the supreme Dharma. Then, realizing and directly experiencing the Suchness, which is naturally luminous and free from the perception of both subject and object, is the path of seeing. It is well said for the sake of perfect meaning. It is well taught for the sake of perfect words. The state of fruition is the Suchness of the mind's naturally luminous nature, which is the transformation of a state characterized by being free from the faults of all suddenly arising afflictions. In the Ornament of the Sutras, it is also said: 'That is the complete transformation of the state here, and the ground is considered to be the first.' Thus, this Yoga ground shows the cause, effect, and nature of Yoga. The first three are the cause, the transformation of the state is the effect, and appearance is its own nature. Seventh, explaining the distinction of the place of expertise in Dharma, divided into two. First, explaining expertise with the five Dharmas: The venerable Ananda said: 'A monk endowed with the five Dharmas quickly grasps.' And so on, establishing the tenets of the sutra section that was spoken. How can one quickly grasp by being expert in the Dharma? Because of much hearing, the words and letters are mostly fluent and smooth. How can one grasp much by being expert in meaning? Because one knows the characteristics of the Abhidharma, etc., one can round up many words at the beginning of the discussion of the aggregates, etc. How can one grasp well by being expert in letters and definitive terms without confusing words and meanings? Because one first knows all that is to be known, one knows the letters of the excellent definitive terms such as 'all-knowing,' and one knows how to establish terms without clinging to the definitive terms of local dialects.

Furthermore, the Ornament of the Sutras states: 'By understanding the meaning, all dharmas should be known as being like a raft. If one clings to hearing and abandons [practice], it is therefore called dharma.' As it is said. Secondly, abiding in the Dharma has two aspects. The first is: As stated in the sutra 'The Monk Abiding in the Dharma,' it is established that merely through the combination of hearing and thinking, such as mastering, reciting, speaking extensively, and contemplating extensively, without relying on meditation, one does not abide in the Dharma, because one has abandoned the Dharma of realization, yoga, etc. It is established that merely through the combination of meditation, without relying on hearing and thinking, one does not fully abide in the Dharma, because one has abandoned the Dharma of the scriptures. Therefore, the Bhagavan, starting with the monk abiding in the Dharma, in order to make it known that relying on both hearing, thinking, and meditation, and abiding in both, is to abide in the Dharma, extensively taught that the monk masters the Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka and the section on rhythmic utterances, recites, speaks extensively, and contemplates extensively, and then afterwards said not to abandon yoga, etc. Explaining the intention of the scriptures is: Firstly, in order to grasp the words or master them, and to purify them after mastering them, reciting and explaining to others, etc., should be seen as showing what arises from hearing and thinking. Combining with samadhi and not clinging to satisfaction should be seen as showing what arises from meditation. Among these, combining with samadhi has two aspects: continuously familiarizing oneself and combining with reverence, which is indicated by 'not abandoning yoga'; what is encompassed by combining with the non-perversion of permanence, etc., should be seen as indicated by 'not abandoning mindfulness.' Not clinging to satisfaction is indicated by 'not abandoning inner mental quiescence,' because if one tastes the flavor, one will be satisfied with the initial samadhi alone and will not cultivate from higher to higher, whereas if one does not taste the flavor, one will cultivate quiescence from higher to higher. Eighth, particularly explaining the exceedingly vast has seven aspects: the exceedingly vast is the cause for establishing the Perfection of Wisdom collection, the cause for showing it as profound and vast, and the cause for some not believing in it.
