It is to realize that one should abandon what should be abandoned and cultivate the completely pure dharmas such as faith. That meaning is, as stated in the Madhyāntavibhāga: "For the sake of bad states, for the sake of the cause of desire, for the sake of the basis, and for the sake of not being deluded, in order to enter the four truths, one should meditate on mindfulness." Furthermore, the result of these is to attain freedom from contaminated bodies and so on, because by meditating on these, one becomes free from the bad states of bodies and so on. The object of true abandonment is the incompatible and the arisen and unarisen antidotes. The essence is the effort of striving to adopt and abandon them. Regarding meditation, the sutra states: "One generates the desire to abandon the arisen sinful and unwholesome dharmas, not to generate the unarisen, to generate the unarisen wholesome dharmas, to maintain the arisen, and for the sake of non-decline, etc." and so on. Its condensed meaning is, this is, and so on. To explain it in detail, the Sutrālaṃkāra states: "Relying on desire, the yogi meditates with reasons, for all true abandonments, it is said to be the antidote." Thus, the basis of diligence is desire, because it precedes it. Effort is the diligence of rejoicing in meditating on śamatha-vipassanā, and that is also because one meditates on the faultless antidote by considering the reasons for śamatha and so on. The words of the sutra, "striving with diligence," indicate that the antidote for eliminating sinking and excitement is diligence itself. In this way, under that statement, the method of eliminating sinking is clarified by remembering things that make the mind completely focused and joyful, and because it is said that the mind is held by completely abiding and gathering inward, the method of eliminating excitement is clarified. The result is that the first two true abandonments cause the incompatible aspects to decline, because those two in their respective ways cause the arisen and unarisen sinful and unwholesome dharmas to decline. The third is to obtain the antidote, because it causes the unarisen wholesome dharmas to arise. The fourth is to increase the antidote, because it causes good

It is for the purpose of making the earth-born grow. The object of the miraculous foot is the accomplished activity of samadhi, such as transformation and alteration. Its essence is samadhi, which is distinguished based on cause or friend. The actual friend is desire, etc. Explaining the one with friends is divided into two. The explanation of the basis is to respectfully combine, which is to touch single-pointedness of mind through diligently meditating on the combination of desire. Continuously combining is not abandoning diligence. Mental samadhi is because in a previous life, one relied on meditating on samadhi, thereby nourishing the seed of the mind. Naturally touching single-pointedness of mind. Investigating samadhi is relying on the Dharma that arises from the words taught by other virtuous friends, that is, relying on the wisdom of thoroughly distinguishing, touching single-pointedness of mind. Second, explaining the fruit of truly abiding, that is, "again," etc. Generating desire, etc., is easy to understand because it has been explained before. Meditation is divided into meditation of abandoning activity and meditation of abandoning two faults. The first is stated in the Madhyantavibhaga: "Laziness and instructions, forgetfulness, sinking and excitement, non-application and application, these are considered five faults." Like this, there are five opposing factors. First, the fault of not engaging in meditation is laziness. To counteract it, meditate on the four from desire to extreme pliancy. Among them, the actual antidote is effort. Its place is desire. Its cause is faith. The result of effort is extreme pliancy. When engaging in combination, forgetting the instructions themselves is a fault, and its antidote is mindfulness. When entering the main practice, sinking and excitement are faults, and their antidote is awareness, that is, the awareness that observes them. When sinking and excitement occur, not counteracting them is itself a fault, and its antidote is the mental activity that clearly acts on the antidote to sinking and excitement. When the inequality of sinking and excitement disappears and naturally enters, the mental activity that clearly acts is a fault, and its antidote is equanimity. These eight can be summarized into four, that is, effort is desire and
