In terms of status, it relies on oneself and others for shame and conscientiousness. In engaging in virtuous actions, it is non-attachment, non-hatred, non-ignorance, and diligence. In being free from worldly desires, it is extreme gentleness. In being free from transcendental desires, it is mindfulness and equanimity. In benefiting sentient beings, it is non-harming, because it is embraced by compassion. Following these, these will be summarized into six categories and explained. Among them, faith that is temporarily and equally present at a specific time has three aspects: the aspect of manifest trust in existing things, whether virtuous or non-virtuous; the aspect of joy in existing and virtuous things; and the aspect of faith that has the aspect of desire for being able to generate or obtain existing and virtuous things. So, what is the faith of trusting in existing things? It is the manifest trust that the fruits of virtuous deeds such as merit are desirable, and that the fruits of non-virtuous deeds are undesirable; and the manifest trust that "suffering should be understood, and the origin should be abandoned." So, what is the faith of rejoicing in virtuous things? It is the joy, represented by trembling and tears in the eyes, that arises from remembering the qualities of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. This is like a water-purifying gem that clears the turbidity of water; it is called the faith of joy because it clears the turbidity of afflictions and near afflictions from the mind with which it is equally present, thereby purifying the mind. So, the faith of desiring abilities is the desire to attain cessation, which is characterized by the complete cessation of all suffering, and the belief that one is capable of generating its cause, the path. In that case, since it is an aspect of desire, wouldn't it become any kind of craving? No, because craving is driven by inverted imputation and aims at an object that is in accordance with the arising of afflictions, while faith aims at an object that is in accordance with the generation of purification.

Because it is intention, it is not the same. Intention precedes faith, so it will not become intention either. This is the function of relying on intention, because whatever one has faith in, one pursues its meaning. When turning away from all afflictions, among the two that are simultaneously present, shame and embarrassment, for the time being, shame is: taking self or Dharma as the reason, one is afraid of bad physical and verbal actions, being cautious and fearful of looking at what is. Among them, taking self as the reason is: lineage, knowledge, discipline, etc., the appearance of such qualities, how could a self like this, possessing such qualities, do such evil deeds? Thinking like this. Taking Dharma as the reason is: the arising of unwanted ripening, and engaging in harming others, is even inferior to Dharma. Thinking like this, being afraid of what is bad. Embarrassment is: such bad physical and verbal actions are also condemned in the world. Therefore, if others know that I have done such a thing, I will be condemned, thus taking others as the reason, being afraid of looking at what is bad. Both of these also turn away from the near cause of sinful behavior, therefore it is the function of relying on the restraint of sinful behavior. When entering virtue, among the four that are simultaneously present, non-attachment is the antidote to attachment to the body of existence and the necessities close to it, such as food, clothing, etc., which is non-attachment, being disgusted with those and not accepting what is. Attachment is the cause of sinful behavior, and this is the antidote to that, therefore this is the function of relying on not entering sinful behavior. The following two are also established in the same way. Non-hatred is: for sentient beings who are unpleasant, such as enemies, and the feeling of suffering in one's own continuum, and Dharma that has become a place where suffering arises from poison, weapons, etc., completely without a tormented mind, what is the nature of loving-kindness. Non-ignorance is the antidote to ignorance, and that is also knowing reality without inversion.
