etc., or whatever appears clearly in the form of skeletons. The powerful one is whatever image of earth, water, etc., appears as the object of worldly samadhi, such as exhaustion. Why are these called "caused by the elements"? Because those samadhis of ugliness and exhaustion, etc., arise from having material objects as their object. And those material objects also depend on the elements. Therefore, since they arise depending on the great elements, they are called the form of the result. In reality, they depend on samadhi, but not on the elements. In the Gtan la dbab pa bsdus pa, it says: "Whatever result of absorption is a form belonging to the sphere of phenomena should be known as depending solely on absorption, and not on the great elements, because it is accomplished from a samadhi that focuses on an image similar to it. Therefore, it is not born relying on what is called caused by the great elements." This is what is said. Samadhi also depends only on worldly samadhi, and not on supramundane ones, because they are of a non-elaborate nature. Also, in that very text, it says: "Worldly samadhi arises depending on contaminated and uncontaminated samadhi, but not on supramundane samadhi, because that is a samadhi with a non-elaborate nature, arising from a worldly cause." This is what was said. These are only colors of color alone, and other forms transformed from the elements and from the elements do not exist in these. As it is said in that very text: "In this case, the result of absorption, which is a form belonging to the sphere of phenomena, should be known to have only color. Why is that? Because there is no cause for the arising of other things such as odors." Because it is said in this way. Thus, for these forms belonging to the sphere of phenomena, the first three exist nominally, and the latter two exist substantially, because they become the object of samadhi without depending on speech, etc.

Thus, the form included in the sphere of phenomena is of two types: truly existent and nominally existent. Like the emanation that is the object of meditative absorption arising from power, its result, its object, and the object of the consciousness that possesses similarity to it, whatever that is, is truly existent. That which belongs to vows and non-vows is nominally existent. Thus it is said. Therefore, the first three are merely proximately designated as form, while the latter two are the nature of form, because with the mind in equipoise, one can distinguish the differences of color and shape, saying, "This is this," and because it can be examined as having form, and because with the mind in equipoise or not, being able to distinguish the differences of that color and shape is also the characteristic of form that is suitable for object analysis. If so, in the Vibhasha, the imputed and the powerful are not described as divisions of form because they are not separate from the consciousness that perceives appearances. What is said in this way may be Vasubandhu's intention, but it is very contradictory to the treatises of this noble one. Therefore, to say that these are not the nature of form based on the Vibhasha is not understanding the meaning of the treatises well. Thus, the establishment of the aggregate of form has been explained. After that, intending to ascertain the aggregate of feeling, the question is asked: What is the establishment of the aggregate of feeling? To that, the aggregate of feeling is established by its nature, location, defilement, and purification. Among these, the establishment from its nature is divided from the perspective of the basis, there are six groups of feelings, namely, the feeling arising from contact that arises from the aggregation of the basis of the eye with self as the condition. Similarly, the feelings arising from contact that arise from the aggregation of the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. From the perspective of nature, each of these also has three, namely, when any feeling arises, there is happiness, which is the natural arising of a mind that does not want to separate and desires to meet after it ceases. And suffering, which is any feeling that arises, one wants to separate from, and does not want to meet after it ceases. And any feeling in which neither of those two arises is neither suffering nor happiness.
