It has been told completely. Furthermore, it should be recognized through three aspects: classification, individual essence, and the benefit of understanding it. Classification means observing from six aspects. The sameness that exists because individual essences have no difference is: the collection of matter and so on, in the aspect of minute particles, all things with elements such as earth, water, fire, and wind, and things derived from elements, without obstruction in location, existing in one place without difference. For example, a single clay ball, other elements and things derived from elements exist within it, one cannot say that the particles of earth exist in the east, or exist in the west, etc., because everything exists in the same location. This is the meaning of what is said. The sameness that exists through being mixed is: coarse things larger than minute particles are mixed together, for example, in muddy water, water and particles of earth are mixed together. The sameness that exists through contact is: coarse aggregates with directional aspects are in contact with each other, for example, a lump of clay on a wall and another lump of clay are in contact. The sameness that exists through simultaneous arising is: aggregates and so on, existing together in the same continuum, for example, the same things such as arising in the three stages of beginning, middle, and end. The sameness that exists through accomplishing actions is: when two monks confess transgressions or any dispute, one acts as the object of confession, and the other performs the confession, like this, participating equally with each other. The sameness that exists through concordant cognition is: mind and mental factors abide on the same basis, and cognize the same object at the same time in a concordant manner. The distinction of analyzing this is that it has sameness with the objects of others, but not with one's own objects. For example, mind does not have sameness with another mind, and feeling does not have sameness with another feeling, and so on. This shows that mind and mental factors are two different entities. If they were the same entity, then they would only have sameness with their own objects, and having sameness with the objects of others would only be a name. Furthermore, mind and mental factors are the same entity.

If so, then mental factors, because they are attributed to a part of the mind, will only become nominally existent. If so, then distinguishing mental factors as substantially existent and nominally existent from various determinations, collections, etc., will not work. Moreover, in that same context, some ascetics and Brahmins consider only the mind in name to be substantially existent, and do not acknowledge mental factors; those people are also unreasonable. Why? Because it is unreasonable to say that the aggregates are only five in the first place. Having listed the faults in this way, it is summarized: The five themselves are unreasonable, because their state has faults, because there is no difference in function, and because it will contradict the scriptures. That is what was said. The meaning of the summary is this: It becomes unreasonable for the five aggregates, because the aggregates of feeling, etc., which are mental factors, are part of consciousness, so they will become only two aggregates: the aggregate of consciousness and the aggregate of form. In that case, form also becomes unreasonable as an aggregate, etc., because in reality, form, which is different in substance from consciousness, is not established either. If someone asks: Even if form is not established in reality, in name, form exists separately from consciousness, because it does not depend on speech, etc., but independently becomes the object of the senses such as the eye. Therefore, it is reasonable to establish it separately from consciousness. If someone asks: If the mind is established as feeling, etc., merely because of the difference in state, is there no contradiction? Do those states of mind have a different nature from the mind, or not? If it is like the first case, then the mind becomes completely other, because it has a different nature from the mind by performing the activity of grasping objects different from the mind. If it does not perform the activity of focusing on objects different from the mind, it cannot be a knowledge with a nature different from the mind, because the different natures of knowledge are determined by the different activities of focusing on objects. If those states of mind have no difference in nature from the mind, then, therefore, they separate from the aggregate of consciousness.
