It is not appropriate to call it "same support" because it does not act as the object of other people's eye consciousness, because it does not complete its own function. It is never possible for one object to perform the function of generating consciousness for all beings with eyes. Therefore, "same support" is impossible, and the same is also impossible, because for yogis who see things beyond the senses, there is not even a little object that is not the object of their consciousness. If becoming "same support" and "same as it" depends on whether or not it acts as the object of some consciousnesses, then when the object of some people's consciousnesses is acting, because it is not acting as the object of some people's consciousnesses, the moment it becomes "same support" becomes "same as it." Then, their definitions will only become confused, and it will be impossible to clearly distinguish "this is the same support," "this is the same as it." If that is the case, then it will also be impossible to establish "same support" and "same as it" for the senses. For example, if Devadatta's sense generates his own consciousness, because it does not generate the consciousness of other people. If you say that it is "same support" because it can perform its own function, even if I did not say so, even if I said so, it is not the same, because the senses arise from the respective unique actions of beings, therefore, it only acts on the consciousness of one's own continuum, and does not act as the support for the consciousness of other people's continuum. Therefore, when one's own continuum's consciousness arises, because all of one's own functions are completely fulfilled, it can be called "same support," not because other consciousnesses have not arisen, and the function is not fulfilled, because generating other consciousnesses is not one's own function. When one's own continuum's consciousness does not arise, because none of one's own functions are acting, therefore it is appropriate to call it "same as it." External objects are contained by the external vessel world, and are common to all sentient beings.

Because it arises from that, everything should be enjoyed in common. Therefore, even if one does not observe the consciousness of a single person, one's own work will not be completed, because observing the consciousness of all people is one's own work. Thus, whether according to the identity of the support or the earlier and later ways of establishing the meaning identical to it, it is not reasonable for the realms to have identical supports or be identical to them. Therefore, only the senses are made to enjoy these. One aspect of the aggregate of form is the five senses, and the five realms and five sources are also the same. When one knows that the support of consciousness that grasps objects and does not grasp is the same, and that the dharma identical to it is merely dharma, then one abandons the manifest clinging to the identical support and that identical to it, whether or not it possesses self-consciousness. Grasping means: the form from which feelings of pleasure, etc., arise is the form grasped by the mind. The opposite of that is the ungrasped. One aspect of the aggregate of form is the sense faculty with form that has a location. The five realms and five sources are the five senses. The aspect of the four is: form, smell, taste, and touch, which are not different from the senses and aggregates. When one knows that the support from which feelings of pleasure and pain arise is merely a dharma, then one abandons the manifest clinging to having power over the body and to the support from which feelings of pleasure and pain, etc., arise. Now, the twenty-two faculties will be explained. Among them, the six faculties, such as the eye, have power over grasping objects, because by means of these, the mind and mental factors that focus on objects such as form arise. If there is no consciousness, even if there are faculties, there is no power to enjoy objects, like the faculties of sleep and fainting, etc. If there is consciousness, the faculties can enjoy objects, like the faculties in a waking state. Therefore, it is consciousness that has power over grasping objects, not the faculties. If one thinks so, it is not correct. Because the faculties arise from their own causes and are inherently born to enjoy their own objects, they do not grasp objects by the power of consciousness. Rather, consciousness enjoys objects by relying on the power of the faculties.
