Due to non-conformity with suchness, such as proper attention, based on improper attention, the body commits misdeeds, such as killing; speech and mind commit misdeeds, such as lying and harboring malice, etc., are common behaviors. What is the non-virtue that is placed before one? Whatever kind of deity, such as Ishvara and Caṇḍika, etc., taking reliance on these as a prerequisite for refuge, slaughtering livestock, etc., for the sake of worshiping them, first engaging in harm; or desiring excellence and merit from them, and for the sake of these deities, not eating, etc., first generating afflictive wrong views, and then newly creating statues of Ishvara, etc.; or in places where statues of Ishvara, etc., have already been established in the past, causing most ordinary people to engage in non-meritorious activities such as slaughtering livestock, thereby engaging in the activities of worshiping deities. Harmful non-virtue refers to wrongly harming sentient beings through physical beatings, verbal abuse, and mental malice, etc. Non-virtue that grasps undesirable results refers to the fact that through the three doors of body, etc., committing misdeeds, thereby throwing out the undesirable results that ripen in the lower realms, and there achieving longevity and large size, etc.; while in the happy realms, achieving undesirable results such as short life, illness, and poverty, etc., but not throwing them out, because the birth in the happy realms is entirely thrown by virtuous deeds. So, what is throwing, and what is achieving? The cause that can accomplish the essence of the ripening is called the act of throwing here. That which can accomplish the differences of the ripening, such as good and bad, is called the act of achieving. So, what is the essence of the ripening, and what is the difference? The alaya-vijñana of the ripening and the body with the senses that are transformed from it are the essence of the ripening. Whether these exist for a long or short time, and whether they are harmed by painful feelings, and whether there is harm or not

I, currently, beauty and ugliness, scarcity of enjoyment and non-scarcity, etc., are differences. In detail, it will be explained below. The non-concomitant non-virtuous is that which obstructs the arising of antidotes to the mundane and supramundane, and thus becomes the non-concomitant Dharma, all afflictions and near afflictions. This is all afflictions, so one should know the nature and imputation of non-virtue. The intervening virtue is any Dharma that obstructs the practice of virtuous Dharma with and without outflows, such as constant noise and confusion in the Sangha. This also has true and imputed non-virtue. Unspecified is shown in three senses, and the explanation of individual characteristics, of the two. The first is, nature, etc., that is, unspecified as to the arising of Vipāka, or unspecified as to virtue and non-virtue, therefore it is unspecified. The eight realms and sources are the five physical faculties and the realms and sources of smell, taste, and touch. These are entirely unobscured and unspecified. One aspect of the aggregates, etc., is that they have all three, virtue, etc., so they are those that have abandoned virtue and non-virtue. The Dharma that has no power to produce desired or undesired Vipāka, the unspecified aggregates, etc., are known only as Dharma, so in order to abandon the manifest clinging to the unspecified that is separate from the two, I and Dharma, the arising of desired Vipāka and the arising of undesired non-Dharma. In the explanation of individual characteristics, the unspecified of nature is the eight physical realms and sources, etc., that is, the five faculties of eye, etc., are because they are included in Vipāka, and the three, smell, taste, and touch, are because the virtuous or afflicted mind does not enter into their objects, so the eight are naturally unobscured and the nature of the unspecified. The afflicted mind with association and possession is obscured and unspecified because it does not become virtuous or non-virtuous in all realms, lands, and times. The life faculty is trans

That which is encompassed by maturation, such as homogeneity and collections of names, etc., is unlabelled because it is of the nature of conceptual imputation and is therefore not obscured by nature. That which is unlabelled by connection is neither non-virtue, represented by hatred, nor virtue, represented by attachment, but is the mind consisting of names and so forth, which are themselves the minds and mental factors fully grasped in various ways. Subsequent connection refers to the predispositions of expression that are completely specific to the minds and mental factors just mentioned. Instigation refers to the actions of body and speech that are instigated by those minds and mental factors that are completely grasped by names and so forth, having abandoned both hatred and attachment. That which is truly unlabelled is space and non-discriminating cessation, because those cannot be established as virtuous or non-virtuous by any designation. That which is unlabelled by nature does not become so extreme, because those can be established as truly non-virtuous and so forth. That which is obtained by birth is the alaya-consciousness that is matured by non-virtue and contaminated virtue, because it is obtained by the power of holding homogeneity, it is called birth-obtained. That which arises from application is neither afflicted by desire and so forth, nor virtuous by faith and so forth, but is the conduct of the mind, such as construction, and the places of craftsmanship, such as goldsmiths. Intended action is any class of worldly deities, whether local deities or tree deities, etc., relied upon for the purpose of temporarily protecting against fear. Having intended thus, one completely abandons the harm or wrong views mentioned above, and either newly establishes those worldly deities' images that did not exist before, or in any place where there were such deities' images before, most people do not generate meritorious virtuous minds, nor do they generate non-meritorious non-virtuous minds, but worship such deities' images for the purpose of protecting against fear and so forth, and again establish other deities' images. Unlabelled benefit is longevity.
