When explaining, everything is except for the afflictions. What is unrelated to outflows is everything that is not combined with the place of outflows and its corresponding objects. What is not bound by outflows is the actions of body and speech of the Arhats. What is not associated with the seeds of outflows are also the sense bases of the Arhats. What is not increasing and in accordance with outflows are the things that are in accordance with the aspects of discernment and so forth, which turn their backs on existence. What does not arise from the cause of outflows are the aggregates of morality and concentration, and so forth. Thus, being unrelated to any one of these six doors of outflows is nominally without outflows, but it is not without outflows in all aspects. Whatever is free from all six doors of outflows, that alone is without outflows in all aspects. The five aggregates without grasping are the form aggregate without outflows, and so forth. Those should also be appropriately combined with the discipline without outflows, and the mind and mental factors of the path that transcends the world. The realms and sense bases, the last three realms and two sense bases, are included in the unconditioned truth of the path. When one knows that being free from outflows is merely dharma, one abandons the manifest clinging to self. Relying on what does one take up weapons such as swords, and punish the body and possessions with cutting, and the body and speech fight and argue with each other, and expose faults by pointing out shortcomings, and not tolerate arguments, and gamble in the presence of vows, and so forth, from where do the objects of strife arise? Attachment and so forth are the cause of strife, therefore it is called strife, and those that are related to the nature of strife, etc., through the six doors are regarded as being associated with strife. Afflictions such as attachment are both outflows and strife, therefore, as many things as are associated with outflows, so many are also associated with strife. The afflictions of the two upper realms do not cause strife because the peak of concentration is scattered, but they are associated with the seeds of the afflictions of the desire realm, which have become the cause of strife, therefore, they are regarded as being associated with strife.

The nature of strife is the afflictions of desire and the near afflictions, etc. Related to that are the minds and mental factors that are similar to them. Bound by that are the virtuous dharmas that operate in desire, and what follows them are all the contaminated dharmas of the two upper realms. What increases and accords with that are all the dharmas of desire. What arises from its cause are the aggregates, elements, and sources included in the fruition of desire. Knowing that what is with strife is only dharma, one abandons the self-grasping there. What is without strife is the opposite of what is included in strife as previously explained, that is, what is not related to strife and the six doors is what is without strife. Among these, what is not the nature of strife is everything other than the afflictions of desire and the near afflictions. What is not related to that is what is not similar to them. What is not bound by that is the virtue of the upper realms and uncontaminated virtue, etc. What does not increase and accord with that is all the upper realms and the uncontaminated, etc. What does not arise from the cause of strife is also those. What whose seed does not follow is the aggregates of the Arhats. As many uncontaminated things as there are, the things without strife are also those. This is spoken of in terms of not being related to both contamination and strife, and any of the six doors. What is with entanglement is what, relying on which, attachment arises to the five aggregates of appropriation of the body that is reborn, the three, such as desire, are called entanglement, and what those are related to by the six doors, such as its nature, is called being with entanglement. Its nature, etc., is explained as it is generally explained as being with contamination. Is anger not the aspect of displeasure? How does it generate attachment? It is said that because anger is directed towards pure dharmas, it generates even greater attachment to existence. What is without entanglement is the opposite of what is with entanglement, that is, what is not related to them and any of the six doors is what is without entanglement. The rest is easy to understand. What is relied upon by clinging is what, relying on which, even greater attachment arises to the five objects of desire, such as form and sound, such as desire, etc.
