Therefore. In this way, this should not be abandoned by the noble ones, because like the cessation attainment, it abides in a state of extreme tranquility. If there is an afflicted mind, even if the six aggregates of this (cessation attainment) cease, because there is mind, other consciousnesses with self-grasping are not accepted. In this way, that should not be abandoned by the noble ones, because like the cessation attainment, it abides in a state of extreme tranquility. If there is an afflicted mind, at that time, even if the six entering consciousnesses cease, because there is mind, it still abides for a long time with self-grasping, so it is abandoned because it is seen as a non-leisurely place. Furthermore, if there is no afflicted mind, then it is unreasonable for self-grasping to universally arise in the minds of ordinary beings, whether virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, because in all states, there is no other mind connected with self-grasping. This is also not a desired reason, because in states such as "I give alms, I kill, I draw pictures," the arising of self-grasping can be observed. Furthermore, if there is no self-grasping at the time of giving alms, etc., then it is also harmful by inference, like this: It is unreasonable for the fruit of existence to arise from virtuous actions bound by self-grasping, just like the virtuous actions of an Arhat. The virtuous actions of children, such as giving alms, etc., are also not bound by self-grasping. This is the non-observation of the pervader. If self-grasping does not exist simultaneously with virtue, but because of "I will give alms," "I gave alms," etc., self-grasping is connected before and after, so it is bound by it, if you say so. Then, the noble learners' absorption in the transcendental path will also become bound by self-grasping, because for them, there is also the thought of "I am absorbed," "I will be absorbed" connected. In this way, one will fall into the faults mentioned above, so the afflicted mind must be admitted even unwillingly. The mind that is the nature of self-thinking has been explained. The mind that immediately becomes the cause is whatever of the six entering consciousnesses has just ceased.

Those consciousnesses in that state, by opening the opportunity for the subsequent consciousnesses to arise, become their immediate cause, which is called mind. The alaya consciousness and the afflicted mind are not the immediate cause of the entering consciousnesses, because these two always exist, therefore they do not open the opportunity for other consciousnesses to arise through the power of cessation. Therefore, it is said that the six consciousnesses. These consciousnesses are also not the immediate cause when they have not arisen, because their own nature has not arisen, therefore they do not obstruct the arising of other consciousnesses, like space. It is also not the case when they have arisen but have not ceased, because if they themselves have not ceased, they will not find the opportunity for other consciousnesses to arise. When they themselves cease, they open the opportunity for the subsequent consciousnesses to arise, therefore, it becomes their immediate cause, therefore it is said "immediately after cessation." This refers to not being interrupted by other similar consciousnesses. It does not mean not being interrupted by other moments, because in the state of entering cessation samadhi, etc., the mind before entering samadhi ceases, and even after a long time, it becomes the immediate cause of the mind that arises immediately after emerging from samadhi. It does not mean being interrupted by other consciousnesses, because the consciousness that interrupts itself opens the opportunity for the subsequent consciousness to arise. Therefore, it is said "immediately after cessation." In order to exclude other factors such as the senses in the state of the six immediately after cessation, it is said "consciousness." The entering consciousnesses become the immediate cause of the consciousnesses that arise in their wake and are of the same kind, therefore it is said "the six consciousnesses." For those schools that believe that multiple consciousnesses do not arise simultaneously, when one consciousness exists without ceasing, there is no opportunity for other consciousnesses of the same or different kind to arise, therefore, when one consciousness such as eye consciousness ceases, when a different kind of consciousness such as mind consciousness arises, the former eye consciousness gains the opportunity for the subsequent consciousness to arise through the power of cessation, therefore it is consciousness immediately after cessation.
