That which is the ripened fruit that has already been joined to the place of birth; if that does not exist, since there is no seed, it is impossible for the dharmas that arise again to be born. The third is the very cause of the mind's grasping as self to that very thing. If that does not exist, then the object of the mind's grasping as self is impossible. Differentiating extensively by characteristics, there are common characteristics and uncommon characteristics, and characteristics that arise without feeling and characteristics that arise with feeling. The first is the seed of the outer world, because it is commonly enjoyed by all beings. The second is the seed of the inner sense bases, because it is contained by each individual's own continuum, and therefore is not common to others. The outer world is not grasped by the mind, so the seed from which it arises is the seed that arises without feeling. The inner sense bases are grasped by the mind itself, so their seed is the seed that arises with feeling. Of these, the uncommon seed is reversed when the antidote, the supramundane path, arises. The common seed is not abandoned, because it is completely grasped by other conceptualizations, and therefore cannot be abandoned. Therefore, it is difficult to abandon by the antidote, and difficult to completely understand. However, for those yogis who have gained control over the mind, even if the appearance of the outer world has not ceased, their seeing becomes completely pure, because the outer objects are transformed by those who have gained control over the mind into gold, silver, and the sky, etc., just as they wish. Therefore, these objects that appear to childish beings as thorns and stumps, etc., appear to the Buddhas only as pure Buddhafields with a ground of beryl and patterns drawn with golden eyeliner, etc. These meanings are summarized in verses: Common bonds are difficult to abandon, and are also considered difficult to completely understand. From the great outer signs, the mind is the term for yogic practice. Even if it has not ceased there, the seeing of the pure

Wow! Because of the Buddha's pure vision, the Buddha-field is pure. Thus, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, because they have attained the Cessation Attainment, only have pure vision. Because they have not abandoned the obscurations to knowledge, it is impossible for the Buddha-field to be pure. Bodhisattvas, from the eighth ground onwards, have obtained mastery over the common seeds, therefore they are able to transform the world into the kind of Buddha-field they desire. Therefore, they have obtained mastery over the pure Buddha-field. Without these common and uncommon seeds, the difference between the vessel world and the sentient world is impossible. Also, the characteristics of bad migrations and the characteristics of extreme taming. The first is the seed of afflictions and near afflictions. The second is the seed of contaminated virtues. Also, the characteristics of what has been decided and what has not been decided. The first is the habits of good and non-virtue, those that have already matured and manifested after maturation. Without it, the fruition of a single good or non-virtuous action will not be exhausted. The second is the manifest habit, its fruit is not decided, because from the manifest habit other manifestations will arise, and it will also produce other manifest habits later, so later there is no end. Mind has been explained. Now I will explain the mind (意,yi). There are two kinds of mind (意,yi): the mind (意,yi) that grasps at self, and the mind (意,yi) that acts as the immediately preceding condition. From the perspective of the first, it is said "What is mind (意,yi)?" etc. This should be understood through the definitive word, the object, the companion, the time of arising, and the reasoning of establishment. Among them, the definitive word is: any consciousness that always has the nature of constantly clinging to self, therefore it is called mind (意,yi). What is the object that it focuses on? It focuses on the nature of the Alaya consciousness, which is the nature of fruition. How does it focus on it? Because these are produced by the power of the Alaya consciousness, it focuses on self, but in reality it is not so.

No. Why is it that this arises in the form of "I" solely by the power of the ālaya-vijñāna? Is it because the ālaya-vijñāna itself performs the taking of a body, abiding, and so forth, and is thus in accordance with "I"? Or is it not reasonable for the entering consciousness, together with its corresponding object, to be the object of this, because those sometimes cease, and this always arises, so the object cannot cease? The sense faculties such as the eye are also not reasonable as the object of this, because in the formless realm, it would follow that the object of this does not exist. For external things, there is no grasping of "I" and "mine" at all, so it is not reasonable as the object of this. If you say that in the state of having mind, the object is the entering consciousnesses, and in the state of being without mind, the object is the material sense faculties, then in that case, the object of this becomes an alternating object, so like the mental consciousness, it would only become unstable, and that is also not acceptable. Thus, there is no other reasonable object for this, and therefore the ālaya-vijñāna itself is established as the object of this. The companions of this are of two types: common and uncommon. The first is the five ever-present mental factors, such as feeling. The second is that it is associated with the four defiled but unlabelled afflictions. What are those? They are the satkāyadṛṣṭi (藏文:འཇིག་ཚོགས་ལ་ལྟ་བ,梵文天城体:सत्कायदृष्टि,梵文罗马拟音:satkāyadṛṣṭi,汉语字面意思:坏聚见) which views the ālaya-vijñāna as "I", and the Anurāga (藏文:རྗེས་སུ་ཆགས་པ,梵文天城体:anurāga,梵文罗马拟音:anurāga,汉语字面意思:随爱) which desires not to be separated from the "I" that it grasps, and the Māna (藏文:ང་རྒྱལ,梵文天城体:māna,梵文罗马拟音:māna,汉语字面意思:慢) which is the pride that arises in the mind thinking "I am", and the Avidyā (藏文:མ་རིག་པ,梵文天城体:avidyā,梵文罗马拟音:avidyā,汉语字面意思:无明) which makes one deluded about "I". Why are these four afflictions associated? If this did not have satkāyadṛṣṭi, there would be no thought of "I", and therefore it would be unreasonable to apply the term "mind" to this. Therefore, satkāyadṛṣṭi is a companion of this. Without being deluded about "I", there would be no satkāyadṛṣṭi at all, therefore this has avidyā. If there is a grasping of "I", then attachment to "I" will inevitably follow, because those who do not have attachment to "I", such as arhats, also do not have a grasping of "I". Like us, who grasp at "I", they...
