Therefore, it is reasonable to say that all the predispositions imprinted by various things are unobscured and remain entirely in an unpredicated state. If so, how do various results such as good and non-good arise from these? In this regard, the teacher himself clearly explained it through an analogy. For example, in the Compendium on the Great Vehicle it says: "If they are not different predispositions and not various, how can they be the cause of various different things?" For example, when cloth dyed with various madder roots does not appear in various colors, when it is put into a dye vat, the cloth will show various different colors. Similarly, the alaya-consciousness is not various at the time of predispositions, but when it tends towards appearing in the dye vat of manifesting results, it shows countless things. This is the extremely subtle and profound dependent arising in the Great Vehicle. This is what was said. This also cites a refutation of the previous view. Why was only an analogy shown and not a reason for establishing it? Because the predispositions are not various, this has already been established by reason. And when it is said that various different things also arise from it, there is doubt that it is contradictory for various results to arise from a non-different cause. When the analogy is seen, that doubt will be dispelled, therefore the analogy itself is the basis for establishment. How many kinds of seeds are there as described above? It is said: "External and internal and non-manifest, sleep and conventional reality and, the ultimate meaning, all of these are considered six kinds of seeds." That is, seeds can be divided into two types: external seeds and internal seeds. Among them, external seeds are the roots of the utpala flower and barley seeds, etc. Internal seeds are the predispositions that exist in the alaya-consciousness. These seeds themselves can be divided into two non-manifest ones, and two conventional and ultimate ones, divided into four, thus becoming six. Among them, the two non-manifest ones are non-manifest in terms of complete defilement and complete purification, or non-manifest in terms of good and non-good. Conventional reality refers to external seeds, which are merely nominal seeds of sprouts, etc.

It is only in name, not truly, because sprouts and the like arise from the habits of the alaya consciousness. The ultimate seed is the inner seed, because it is logically established that it itself is the cause and condition of all dharmas. Moreover, these are said to be objects of conventional consciousness in sequence and are able to withstand examination. Another examination of the difference between outer and inner seeds: They arise instantaneously and simultaneously. It is considered that it arises continuously. It depends on certainty and conditions, and accomplishes its own result. It is said that, for this, the outer and inner seeds are momentary, because they depend on conditions and produce results in sequence. Otherwise, the production of results would not depend on conditions, because permanent things cannot be changed by conditions. Therefore, results either arise simultaneously or do not arise sequentially either. Moreover, it only arises simultaneously with its own result, not before or after, like this: If the result is present, then the cause is past, because it has ceased and does not exist, so it cannot be a cause like a flower in the sky. If the cause is present, then the result is future, because it is not real, so there is no action of the cause on it, therefore it should not be a result. To this, some commentators say that only when times are different can they become cause and effect, but not when times are the same. In the "Explanation of the Hidden Meaning," it is said that in conventional truth, there are also simultaneous causes and effects, such as a lamp and light. There are also non-simultaneous ones, such as seeds and sprouts. Although it is said like this, the teacher's intention seems to be simultaneous, as it is said: How can the alaya consciousness and all afflicted dharmas be regarded as simultaneously becoming one cause? For example, the arising of a lamp flame and the burning of the wick are simultaneous with each other, and the quiver also relies on each other simultaneously and does not fall, just like that, here too, it should be regarded as becoming one cause. And because it is said such as "arising simultaneously" and "because of instantaneous simultaneity." Cause and effect time

If it is thought to be simultaneous, then the teacher and the taught can only be proven to be simultaneous, because that is not reasonable. Simultaneous arising does not mean arising in one or two moments, but rather it means continuously arising as long as the produced fruit exists. How is this manifested? For example, when sprouts, stems, and stalks of rice, etc., are growing, if the continuation of their own seed does not exist, then they will only remain in that state, and will not develop their own characteristics more and more, because there is no continuation of their own seed. For example, like rice in chaff. If it is said that it develops because of the cause of the previous similar kind, then there is no fault. Then, it has already been said that the previous and subsequent cannot be cause and effect. If so, how is it possible that the seed is not seen in the stage of the sprout? Because the continuation of the seed is the nature of the ability, so from the sprout, it cannot be said to be the same or different from it. Therefore, the seed is not an object of manifestation, but, inferred from the previously mentioned reasoning, it is also established that there is a continuation of the seed even at the time of sprouts, etc. Among them, external seeds, if they do not encounter obstacles, will continue until the final stage when their fruit is fully ripe, and when the fruit ripens to the final stage, the continuation of the seed will also stop. If it encounters obstacles, then whenever it encounters them, the continuation of the seed will stop, and when the continuation of the seed stops, the fruit will also remain in that state, or decline, and will not develop and expand more and more. For internal seeds, the habits of the limbs of existence will continue until their fully ripened fruit is completely mature. The habits of self-grasping will continue until the antidote arises. Among them, the aspects included in what is to be abandoned by seeing stop when the path of seeing arises, while those to be abandoned by meditation stop when the Vajra-like Samadhi or the wisdom of the eighth ground arises. The habits of expression, for Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, the aggregates
