The support of desire and the support of those who have already been born and abide are said to be the three realms. Here, it is not said that this manifests in the formless realm. These are not contradictory because they are based on the difference between establishing and not establishing the ālaya. To say this is not seen as reasonable. Here, the proof that this does not manifest in the formless realm is that those who abide in the maturation of the liberation of peace do not make the effort for it. It is said thus, but it is not said because of formlessness. If there is no ālaya, then this manifestation depends only on form, and if there is no form, then it is thought to be because of formlessness. Therefore, even for those who establish the ālaya, there are two kinds of explanations for whether this manifests in the formless realm or not. The aspects are that feelings and perceptions are stopped by making them appear as diseases, fruits, and pains. Some here say that, according to the sutra, bodhisattvas rely on this samadhi of cessation to cut off the continuum of the three feelings and the three perceptions. Thus, according to the unique system of the Mahayana, the absorption of cessation is a supramundane samadhi, which is the nature of non-conceptualization. To say that it is without mind and non-associated formations, etc., is the system of the Sravaka schools, and thus many false distinctions are made. To this, it should be said that to say that the absorption of cessation is a non-associated formation is the system of the schools. Is this intention of the schools reasonable, or is it something that is fabricated by the mind even though it is not reasonable? If it is the former, then the absorption of cessation is a non-associated formation. Why do the Mahayana masters, such as the brothers Asanga, not accept this? If those masters also accept it in this way, then in the Mahayana system, the absorption of cessation is samadhi, and to accept it as non-associated is the system of the schools. Where did you, who are endowed with discernment, find this? Even if it is reasonable, is the intention of those schools not accepted by those masters? Another's

If it is said, "Although this view is logical, we do not accept it," this is to harbor hatred towards a person, and it is not the attitude that those who speak reasonably should have. According to the second view, just as the various schools refute the assertion that the completely imputed non-cognitive form, and the obtained, past, and future phenomena exist as substances, so too, if it is appropriate to refute this view through scripture and reasoning, why is it not done? Is it perhaps because one does not possess the meditative stabilization of refutation? If there exists a Mahayana treatise that refutes this view through scripture and reasoning, please, you who are broad-minded, point it out. I have not seen even a little bit of refutation of this in the treatises of Maitreya, Asanga, Vasubandhu, and others. In the treatises of Nagarjuna and his sons, along with their followers, I have also not seen a specific refutation of this. If it is said, "In the Ornament for Clear Realization, isn't it said, 'The nine successive stabilizations including cessation,' etc., are transcendent samadhi?" If so, then, since it is said, "The consciousness realized by desire, in a state other than meditative equipoise," please consider desire-mind to be samadhi as well! If it is said that it is merely a name imputed there when the one entering samadhi transforms. If so, then is cessation also the result of meditative stabilization? Or, what fault is there in saying that it is merely that the elements of the body of the practitioner abiding in it remain in a balanced state, and that this is called meditative stabilization? This is not the meditative stabilization that apprehends the object and aspect. Furthermore, if one thinks that it is because in "the immeasurable qualities concordant with enlightenment," it is spoken of as a category of uncontaminated wisdom. But this is not logical, because it is a quality that arises from the power of transcendental wisdom, and therefore it is merely mentioned within those categories. If cessation is non-conceptual wisdom, then, in this very treatise, it says: "Non-conceptual non-elaboration is not because of non-attention, not truly ceased, not because of pacification, not by nature, not seeing by manifest engagement with the object, but seeing without manifest engagement with the object." And in its commentary it says: "If it is said thus because of pacification,
