It is because they do not accept the existence of a self. The phrase "the fault of not having a body before" is merely to prevent extremes, and it is not said because there is an acceptance of such a thing. The idea of wanting the aggregates to rely on a self also has two aspects: one is to hold that the aggregates possess the characteristics of a self, and the other is to hold that the aggregates are objects to be controlled by a self. The first case is limited to just these five, from the self being associated with form to being associated with consciousness; the latter case is also limited to just these five, from form being mine to consciousness being mine. What is called "view of the aggregates"—is it based on entering after rationally analyzing the aggregates for the presence or absence of a self, or is it based on not analyzing? What difference does it make? According to the first, the view of the aggregates should not grasp the aggregates as a self, because rational analysis shows that there is no self in the aggregates. According to the second, it is also not appropriate for views to have the aspect of contemplating and engaging with an object. Answer: The view of the aggregates is because one does not properly analyze the reality of the aggregates and grasps them as "this is me." It should be said that it is a view based on not analyzing. For example, if one analyzes a pile of coiled rope, there is no opportunity for the thought of a snake to arise; but without analyzing, the thought "this is a snake" arises. Thus, the afflictions have been explained. Now, the near afflictions will be explained. That is, in the Compendium of Determinations, it says: What are the locations of the near afflictions? They should be viewed in nine ways: namely, dwelling together, talking about each other, gain and offerings, decline in livelihood, disrespect and intolerance towards the lama, decline in higher discipline, decline in higher mind, and decline in higher wisdom. Among these, the first and second are known to arise from the first location. The third and fourth are from the second location. The fifth and sixth are from the third location. The seventh and eighth are from the fourth location. The ninth is from the fifth location. The tenth is from the sixth location. The eleventh and twelfth are from the seventh location. The other twelve arise from the last two locations. Among these, higher mind and higher wisdom

The three doors will decline, namely, the door of decline of the characteristics of calm abiding, the door of decline of the characteristics of attachment, and the door of decline of the characteristics of equanimity. Among them, the first will generate dullness and sleep, the second will generate excitement and regret, and the third will generate disbelief and the ultimate pursuit of investigation. As it is said. Among the nine, first, the two, anger and resentment, which have a common basis. Anger refers to the fact that for sentient and non-sentient beings that are the cause of immediate harm, being presently nearby, focusing on them, the aspect of the mind is completely tormented, thinking of causing harm, which is actually imputed as part of hatred. This refers to taking up weapons with the intention of beating or pounding, and binding with the five bonds, etc., in short, it is the nature of being the basis for immediately preparing to cause harm. Resentment refers to, after being angry, thinking, "He will do such and such harm to me," continuously holding onto this thought of seeking revenge, which, like anger, is imputed as part of hatred. This refers to not ignoring the harm, but thinking of retaliating someday, therefore it is the nature of being the basis of intolerance. This is preceded by anger, so it is different from anger. And indignation is preceded by this, so it is different from it. The two, concealment and indignation, which have a basis for mutual dispute. Concealment refers to, for a Dharma friend who practices the same, not out of greed, hatred, and fear, etc., but wanting to benefit him, advising, "So-and-so, you have committed such a fault, please act according to the Dharma again," for the well-intentioned advice, due to not understanding the faults of transgression, being part of ignorance, then saying, "I don't remember doing such a thing," concealing and hiding the committed offense. If the offense is concealed, regret will naturally arise, and regret is also accompanied by displeasure, therefore it is the nature of being the basis for not being able to abide in comfort. Indignation refers to, anger
