It should also be known that even those who are not able to discern should be shown. The completely imputed is what appears in the mind when meditating on ugliness, such as discoloration, or the clear appearance of bones. The other-powered is any image of earth, water, etc., that appears in the realm of worldly samadhi, such as exhaustion. Why are these called "caused by the elements"? Because these samadhis of ugliness and exhaustion, etc., arise from having colored objects as their object. And since these colored objects depend on the elements, they are called the color of the result because they arise in dependence on the great elements. Actually, they depend on samadhi, not on the elements. In the Definitive Summary, it says: The color belonging to the sphere of phenomena, which is the result of meditative absorption, should also be known to depend only on meditative absorption, and not on the great elements. It is not dependent on the great elements, because it is produced from a samadhi that focuses on an image similar to it, so it is said to be "caused by the great elements," but it is not born dependent on it. That is what is said. Samadhi also depends only on worldly samadhi, not on supramundane samadhi, because those are of a non-elaborate nature. Also, as it says in the same text: Worldly samadhi arises in dependence on defiled and undefiled samadhi, but not on supramundane samadhi, because that is a samadhi with a non-elaborate aspect, born from a worldly cause. That is what is said. These are only separate appearances of color, and there are no other colors of the elements and those transformed from the elements in these. As it says in the same text: Among them, the color belonging to the sphere of phenomena, which is the result of meditative absorption, should be known to have only color. Why is that? Because there is no cause for the arising of other things such as smell. That is the reason it is said. Thus, for these colors belonging to the sphere of phenomena, the first three are nominally existent.

Moreover, the latter two are substantially existent, not depending on speech, etc., because they become objects of samadhi. Likewise, form belonging to the sphere of phenomena is of two kinds: substantially existent and nominally existent. The object of samadhi arising from power, such as an emanation, its result, its object, and the object of consciousness possessing similarity to it, whatever these are, are substantially existent. That which belongs to vows and non-vows is nominally existent. Thus it is said. Therefore, the former three are merely nominally designated as form, while the latter two are the nature of form, because they can be considered by the mind in equipoise as this or that difference of color and shape, and because the difference of color and shape can be considered by the mind, whether in equipoise or not, and this is also the nature of form suitable for object analysis. If that is the case, in the Vaibhashika, the imagined and the powerful one are not described as divisions of form because they are not separate from the consciousness that perceives them. Although this may be Vasubandhu's view, it is very contradictory to the treatises of this noble one. Therefore, relying on the Vaibhashika to say that these are not the nature of form is not understanding the meaning of the treatises well. Thus, the establishment of the aggregate of form has been explained. After that, in order to determine the aggregate of feeling, the question is asked: What is the establishment of the aggregate of feeling? To this, the aggregate of feeling is established by its nature, location, defilement, and purification. Among these, the establishment from the aspect of nature, if divided from the aspect of the basis, there are six collections of feeling, namely, thus, self-cause, arising from the aggregation with the eye as the basis, the feeling arising from contact, and similarly, the feelings arising from the aggregation of ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, arising from contact. From the aspect of nature, each of these also has three, namely, thus, when any feeling arises, there is no desire to separate, and when it ceases, there is a desire to meet, the arising of a mind of pleasure, and when any feeling arises, there is a desire to separate.
