The undiminished touch and the elements are equal, it is the touch of the state of increasing strength, and the touch of the body in a state of fearlessness and unconcern. Satiety is the touch that makes one not desire food and drink due to the imbalance or balance of the elements. The remaining ones such as hunger are established only from the imbalance of the elements. Among them, hunger is a distinction of touch in which the wind element is heavier, which generates the desire to seek food called hunger. Thirst is a distinction of touch in which the fire element is heavier, which generates the desire to seek a drink called thirst. Therefore, the distinction of touch that becomes the cause of hunger and thirst is named with the name of the result of hunger and thirst. Weakness is the touch of the state in which the body's strength is diminished due to the lack of causes that make the body's elements grow, such as food. Fainting is a distinction of touch, when the body's consciousness grasps it, by its power, the mental consciousness and other acting consciousnesses temporarily disappear, just as a strong person strikes the vital point of a living being and causes fainting. Therefore, this is called the distinction of touch that causes fainting, and it should not be said that it is the touch that exists in the state of fainting. Because in that state, all the sense consciousnesses have stopped, then which consciousness grasps the touch called fainting? If consciousness does not perceive it, then that thing exists. It is not possible to establish a name in this way, because it is too extreme. Therefore, the previous statement is without fault. In this way, it is also very consistent with what is said in the Pramāṇavārttika, "This says the collection, etc., the loss of memory, etc., because the mind can be transformed by the difference in content." Itching is the touch of the state in which the elements produced by harming the blood are not diminished. Sickness is the touch of the state in which the three diseases are unbalanced. Aging is the complete change of age, it is the touch of the state of suffering. Death is the touch of the state of severing the vital point. Fatigue

That is the tactile sensation of the state where the elements of the body are imbalanced due to activities such as walking. These derived tactile sensations are merely attached to the parts of the great elements, and like form and sound, they are not independently existing entities. As it is said in the 'Collection of Definitive Determinations': 'Whatever is said to be the source of tactile sensations, such as softness, up to the ultimate of radiant beauty, is form that has been made into a cause. Therefore, that is established on those great elements themselves, and it should be recognized that those themselves are imputed.' Furthermore, the manner in which which part of the great elements is attached to which part is also, in that, relying on the harmony of the great elements, softness is attached. Relying on the gathering of hardness, it is heaviness. Relying on non-harmony and non-gathering hardness, it is roughness and lightness. Relying on softness and smoothness, it is sliminess. Relying on the nature arising from the mixture of water and wind, it is coldness. Relying on the incomplete display of imbalance, it is hunger and thirst. Weakness is also the same. Relying on the absence of imbalance due to that completeness, it is physical strength, power, and satisfaction. Relying on the disordered imbalance of not being well digested, it is disease. Relying on the imbalance of age change, it is aging. Relying on the imbalance of the changing control of life, it is death. Relying on the imbalance that is completely harmful to the blood, it is itching. Relying on the imbalance of wrong eating, it is fainting. Relying on the mixture of earth and water, it is wetness. Relying on the imbalance of walking, coming, running, and striving, it is fatigue. Relying on the balance of being separated from that, it is rest. Relying on clearing away dirt and so on and being completely without withering, radiant beauty is attached. If those are summarized, there are only six states of the great elements, namely, harmony and non-harmony together, gathering hardness and non-gathering hardness together, smoothness, mixture, imbalance, and balance. Thus, if these six states exist, they become eight, and if eight exist, they also become six.
