The seven places, odors, tastes, tactile objects, and the realms of phenomena. The five places are the places of odors, tastes, tactile objects, phenomena, and mind. One aspect of these is what is included by the four foods. When one knows that the food by which one abides is merely dharma, then one also knows that what is to be abided in is also merely dharma, and thus one abandons manifest clinging to abiding in food. Moreover, those four kinds of food, in brief, are established in four ways. For example, the food by which an impure body abides is that of ordinary beings who engage in desire, because they possess all bonds. The food by which a body that is both pure and impure abides is that of those who are in training and those who engage in form and formlessness, because a residue of bonds remains. The food by which a pure body abides is that of arhats, because they are completely liberated from all bonds. By universally showing the abiding place of food, it is also regarded as food. This refers to buddhas and bodhisattvas who possess great power, because they universally show the abiding place of food in other appearances. One aspect of all conditioned things and unconditioned things, except for nirvana, is that it is with something higher. Because there is another dharma that is superior to them. An aspect of the realm of phenomena and the places is the abandonment of nirvana. Whatever is with something higher means that one must necessarily arise above it, therefore it is an inferior substance, and when one knows that it is merely dharma, then one abandons manifest clinging to it. One aspect of unconditioned things, nirvana, is without anything higher. Because it is the nature of suchness that is completely pure, there is no other dharma that is superior to it. Whatever is without anything higher means that one must strive to arise from it, therefore it is called the supreme substance. When one knows that it is merely dharma, then one abandons manifest clinging to it. Third, showing immeasurable distinctions, as explained before, in that way, the ways of thoroughly distinguishing the aspects of aggregates, realms, and places through the way of explaining by means of the three aspects of characteristic, entity, and purpose are immeasurable, because the specific distinctions of each wisdom have limitless objects.

Therefore. Second, the division into the completely imputed and so forth is that the divisions such as truly existent are summarized into three types, namely, the completely imputed and so forth. From showing the three natures to sentient beings through the reasoning of selflessness, the completely imputed is that which is imputed by completely conceptualizing on the aggregates, elements, and sense sources, which are the basis of self, as the nature of eaters such as self. Therefore, it is called self because it generates pride; it is called sentient being because it is of a timid nature; because it abides in the same class, and because it is born by the power of karma and afflictions, it is called birth; because it increases by chewing food, it is called nourisher; and because it relies on those who repeatedly go, it is called person; it is called born of power because it is mainly born from the actions of the mind; because it protects pride, it is called son of power or lord of power, etc., these are the names of a person. The nature of the imputed or other-powered is the aggregates, elements, and sense sources with the characteristics as previously described. The nature of suchness or the thoroughly established is that on the aggregates, elements, and sense sources, which are the basis of imputation, the things that are completely imputed, such as self, are without from the beginning, and there are only the dharmas of the nature of selflessness such as impermanence and emptiness. The three natures of the reasoning of the selflessness of phenomena will be explained below. Third, the division into characteristics and so forth is divided into two, the entity and the benefit of knowing it, the first of which is the various distinctions of the characteristics, namely, the individual characteristics of the five aggregates, eighteen elements, and twelve sense sources, as previously described, namely, having the characteristic of being able to be form, having the characteristic of being able to be experienced, and so forth. The various distinctions by type are the truly existent and the falsely existent, etc., as previously explained in detail. The various distinctions by body are that there are as many aggregates, elements, and sense sources as there are different bodies of sentient beings. The various distinctions by continuum are that the aggregates and so forth arise in each moment until the continuum is not interrupted.
